Hi, all, and happy Monday. Last night I sent my “Extra! Extra!” newsletter out with no mention in it of the atrocities that had happened over the weekend in Texas. It wasn’t a deliberate decision—I was, at the moment of publishing, trying to finish up a lot of work at the end of what had been a long and busy weekend and I simply forgot. Afterwards, however, I wished I’d mentioned it.
Jessica - about your comment re hands helping bring down something and never knowing exactly when that might happen.....that is can be here one minute and gone the next....we need to remember back to 1989. In that one year communism was weakened so much it brought down the then Soviet Union. And a new president won election in South Africa that led the way to the end of apartheid in the next year. Finally, the Berlin Wall came down on 11/9/89. Each one of these events was a surprise. Yes, people had been working on them for years, and people were aware that certain events were happening, but no one expected each of these things to topple with the speed and completeness that occurred when they finally did. In the greater scheme of things they were literally here one day and gone the next.
Made the calls to my Senators and Rep. It is beyond time that something was done! People seem to forget that when we had a ban on Assault Weapons there were dramatically fewer mass shootings AND no other guns were "taken away" as the republicans claim would happen if we instituted a new ban. Thank you Jessica for you dedicated work.
Jessica, this is such a minor and unimportant note that i am hesitant to even mention it but I wonder if you could change after "my name is" ..."underscore, underscore (six times)" to just one for the audible recordings as I listen to your article every day and its just a small irritant. Thanks!

This is SUCH a great comment! YES!
Jessica, I very much appreciated your Extra good news. Thanks for keeping my heart from becoming just too heavy.
Always, my friend.

Exactly. And they won't even take them away this time! They'd just ban them going forward. Idiotic to oppose it.
So much good news yesterday. Thank you.
Also, thank you for this excellent script. I do wonder though; at this point, aren’t we all “gun violence survivors “?
Honestly, yes. We are.
I want to thank you for the resist bot. It texts me every day at noon and I always reply yes.
Oh that's great! Didn't know it did that!
That’s awesome, yes ever since I signed up it has texted me each weekday the same letter you post. It’s such a convenient tool!
oh, how do you do that? get the text that is?
I honestly don’t know, after I entered in my info to send the first letter I’ve gotten a text at noon with the next letter. 🤷♀️

OMG of course! Thank you for pointing this out!
I called Sen Schumer’s DC office after business hours. There is no option to leave a message. Just an fyi
... and same for Durban’s office: there is no option to leave a voice mail message.
