Hi, all, and happy Friday! This will be a slightly abbreviated newsletter today as I still have family in the house. But with everything happening with Clarence Thomas and the debt ceiling I needed to at least send you some scripts and, if I do say so myself, a couple of good additional actions related to Thomas’s corruption.
Thank you Jess, called, resistbot(ed), and even sent an email at www.justice.gov where they have a form under “contact” that you can share your thoughts.
I would also urge people to contact Dick Durbin...his refusal to use the vast powers of the judicial committee is infuriating.
He refuses to demand that Feinstein resign so that judicial and Cabinet appointees can be confirmed, and SCOTUS justices subpoenaed. (He won't even talk to Feinstein or her staff). He refuses to drop the blue slip policy, allowing GOP senators to block judicial appointments without cause.
He can single-handedly change history, and he refuses to do anything.
Yes. I'll do another call script for him on Monday. He's rapidly becoming my least favorite Democratic Senator. Other than Manchinema, of course. And a few others.
Excellent...Yes, this tradition of Democrats awarding plum assignments based solely on seniority must stop. We need fighters, not senators who can't handle faux GOP outrage after decades in office.

I added to your script, Jessica, to tell the senators that this Thomas debacle reminded me of when the former president said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not face any consequences.
Enjoy the rest of your time with your family. Tell them for us that we think you're swell!
I called my senators this morning about Clarence Thomas and then read your post and called back to ask why they were silent on this. You’re right. They should be raising a huge fuss. There must be impeachable offenses. When I was reminded that he was the deciding vote in Citizens United and other democracy-destroying decisions it all became clear.
Call about Leonard Leo and Neil Corkery too! They seem to have real criminal exposure on the tax evasion and false filings around their network of shell companies and "charities."
Yes. He's the only reason I didn't say "no Senator has spoken up about resignation." Because he has. And only him. Whitehouse is literally my favorite Senator. He's wonderful.

What does he think he was elected to do?

Yeah, it's pretty disturbing, what his vote has caused in our country.

Yeah, agree on all of the above. I'll work on it for an upcoming newsletter.
Behind a paywall, alas. Looks great!
So good. Thanks for posting.
I think you get a certain number of free articles every month and I have already used mine.
