Please when you talk to Cory Booker ask him why he and Klobuchar and Hasan and Shaheen and several other Dem Senators keep on voting to confirm Trump’s horrible nominees, such as Purdue for Ambassador to China? Why are dems saying one thing and doing another? Why are they enabling the destruction of our democracy and possibly of our entire country? What is their excuse? PLEASE MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

So disappointed in the 16 Democratic senators who voted to confirm Perdue, which includes Booker and Klobuchar. I don’t care what their reasoning was. Democrats need to play hardball, period. Sometimes their disunity feels like the Keystone cops running around and bumping into one another over and over again.

Booker is my senator, I sent him an email and told him I was hoping to support him as a presidential candidate and now I’m not sure. That should get his attention!

"I was worried D.C. would feel contaminated now that Trump is in office, but I found it largely unchanged, and still remarkably beautiful. The age of its buildings, their graceful structures, the immovability of their bulk, all struck me as oddly comforting."

How beautifully poetic, Jess! I had hoped to visit DC one last time before the "inaugeration" (i.e., massive screwing) event, but alas, was unable to. Perhaps I'll try again, encouraged by your words, but I'll make sure to go on a weekend, when King Kon is certain to be on a golf course many miles away.

Notwithstanding the trash at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. If you can, please visit the Vietnam War Memorial, since those soldiers are being newly disrespected by the trump madministration.

Our Virginia Senators are not getting the memo despite very vocal constituents asking for a more robust response to the current administration. They have continued to vote for Trumps nominees which communicates support. Writing letters and calling has not been effective. We need an effective strategy to communicate to conservative Dems that cooperation with the GOP is akin to cooperating with fascism. Ideas please?

PLEASE EXPLAIN THE PROCESS OF TEXTING a series of letters to a 5 digit numerical code. It doesn’t work for me and looks potentially useful.

It works for me. The 5 digit code get you to Resistbot. But you can also get there by looking up Resistbot on the web, learning about it and set it up as contact in your phone. Once in a Resistbot text bubble just enter the letters which streamlines the process to create an instant message. (Well worth taking a few minutes to get set up with Resistbot.)

I've been a resistbot user since 2017.

For detailed instructions, go to https://resist.bot/ from any browser.

Or from your phone, send the word RESIST to Resistbot on Apple Messages, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, or by text to 50409 and answer the questions texted back. In minutes, you’ll have contacted Congress or your other elected officials.

It is simple to set up and then only takes 2-3 minutes to use. Once you're set up, if you tell it FOLLOW JESSCRAVEN101, you will get each petition Jess creates, no more than one per day. So convenient!

If you think you will send more than 100 petitions, get a membership for unlimited petitions, which also supports the continued existence of Resistbot. *Currently $7 per month.*

Message and data rates may apply if you use SMS. Message frequency varies. Text stop to 50409 to stop all messages. Text help to 50409 for help.

Could you please ask Dems in DC to start drafting Project 2027? Want to be really optimistic? Let’s hear the things we’ll UNDO in the first 100 days after we take back control of at least one body of Congress.

Jessica, In addition to your suggested congressional contacts I also sent my republican representative a demand for Trump’s impeachment or removal under the 25th amendment following his comments on Meet the Press this weekend. For the President of the United States to admit he doesn’t know if he has to uphold the Constitution, he either took his oath unfaithfully or is suffering from terrible memory loss and should not be holding the highest office in the land! I know there’s a snowballs chance in hell for him to be removed now but I feel it’s important to let them now we find his actions unacceptable.

It's apparent from the Meet the Press interview that Trump hasn't read the Constitution. I think we all should flood the White House with those pocket size Constitutions with a note: although you pledged to defend the Constitution twice in taking your oath of presidency, it's apparent you haven't read it once. Here's your own copy.

It would be cool for him to get a million plus copies.

Thank you for all of your hard work and inspiration defending democracy! You are a hero and very much appreciated! Last Thursday, May 1st, my husband and I had made a decision to travel to DC from Michigan to attend the May Day protests and be a part of a huge crowd to really make a statement. When we arrived at the designated Madison St site we were among only 200 people or so. The protest we had hoped to participate in on the Mall was non existent. So, with our protest signs in tow, we ventured out on our own and became a protest tour of two. We walked down the Mall to the Washington Monument, and on to the Lincoln Memorial. Along the way we had many people take our photo, video us, stop to talk and express their concerns, and thank us. From the Lincoln Memorial we walked down Constitution Ave, past the White House, and soon Barb from Seattle had joined in wondering where we were headed. We had heard there were other protest gatherings but never found them. Undaunted, we decided to head to the Supreme Court. From there, on to the Capitol, and then full circle back to the Madison St site May Day protest headquarters. In the end, even though we didn’t join a huge crowd of protestors, our “protest of two” might have had a bigger impact. We spoke to so many people. Folks stopped us on the street to photograph us or have their picture taken with us. We talked to people from around the country and the world. It was pretty amazing. The photo of us in front of the Lincoln Memorial is the new “American Gothic”.

Thanks for fighting the good fight! Peace and love.

Washington, DC in the spring is magic and I'm glad you are there. I lived it and loved it 30 years and left when the vibe got weird when Trump arrived. Still, the beauty and majesty of our nation's capital endures through each administration. The Washington Monument still stands and the Capitol remains, as do the favorite restaurants in the many, diverse, ethic neighborhoods that form the quilt known as DC residents. Though brief, the blooming of Cherry Blossoms marks the end of the "first 100 days" and the beginning of everything else.

None of this is about you, Donald. People come to soak up the history of our nation, created where you are standing now. The history books come alive when you stand in Washington and realize just a few miles to the north was the Union encampments and a few miles to the south was the Confederacy. It was a neighborhood shoving match, all on foot and some horses. No tanks, no planes, no Jeeps, nothing more than people fighting for democracy and human rights.
