Thanks, Jess, I love this from Vaclav Havel. I had forgotten it. I will share!

Particularly comforting to read these lines, CTN, as I keep getting comments from one reader that my efforts are "futile" and border on being stupid.

Going forward, I will borrow this particular sentiment to use in reply:

"HOPE in this deep and powerful sense is not the same as joy that things are going well or willingness to invest in enterprises that are obviously headed for early success, but rather an ability to work for something because it is good, not because it stands a chance to succeed."

Good Lord. That commenter sounds like they need to be blocked?

I think he's more a curmudgeon than a troll! I tried to make a deal with him that I wouldn't rain on his parade if he didn't rain on mine.

I don't think he would last long on CW/CW.

Lynell, I appreciate and want to highlight a comment you posted on Robert Hubbell's substack, which I feel speaks to "hope" as discussed here:

“Be a John Lewis headed for that bridge to cross, knowing that he didn't have a snowball's chance in hell..."

We do things that we know we must do, because it is the right thing to do. Sometimes that means standing alone for a time. But by being a visible example, we encourage others to stand up for values such as equality, decency, and other fundamental human rights and freedoms.

Thanks for all your thoughtful comments, Lynell.

Oh, Fran-Michelle. I am honored to know you are with me, as I am with you in this quest. We, all of us, are a formidable force to be sure!

Lynell, said commentator responded negatively (in Spanish !) to one of my (positive) posts.

I should “borrow” your idea and next time reply with the HOPE quote…in Spanish.😉

I second the comments of Fran-Michelle.💙

Geesh, Kathy. I like what Jeff Tiedrich says on his substack "Everyone is Entitled To My Own Opinion!"

Regarding “dumping ”Alito, according to Rep Jamie Raskin in the NYT article (gifted below), the DOJ and US Attny for DC are key to forcing Alito and Thomas to recusing themselves in J6 cases.

I copy and pasted the Basic Statement of Facts from the Dump Alito site: https://www.dumpalito.com/ to send them a message.

To send a message to DOJ/Garland:⬇️

Yeah, I saw that. But after Roberts’ letter to Durbin and Whitehouse yesterday I think it’s pointless to ask him to act. He won’t. The court needs to be reformed, and it has to happen through Congress.

As with the Dump Alito action, it only took me minutes.Yes, the reality is that none of these actions will likely force anyone to act but it’s a way for my voice to be heard. At least for me, that’s empowering..…

I love what you're doing and if I had the bucks, I'd put excerpts of your newsletters as an ad in our local paper every week!

Thanks for all of the information and tools that you give us every day to help us in this our biggest challenge to date. I just called my 2 Senators telling them how very concerned I am at the hubris of Justice Alito for refusing to recuse himself from the cases involving Trump and January 6th.I told my Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown to call for Senator Dick Durbin to step down as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. I read something another writer wrote earlier today on another Substack-"I take Alito's arrogance personally" Bob Morgan. I agree and we must urge action by our Congressional reps to do something about this travesty.

I, too, take it personally. And every American should.

May I have the honor of being the 1st to post:

GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS!!!

Thank you, 12 average Americans. A modicum of justice, delivered fairly and peacefully.

Let's nail all ALL these guys at the box in November.

About a month ago I posted something from The Grass Roots Connector on FaceBook. Then last week I was informed by FaceBook my post was removed for misinformation and trying to get “Likes”, which is utterly ridiculous because I only post to my friends not publicly and I only have about 200 friends on FaceBook. I was unable to look up the information about the removal because they did not give me the full link. I am glad to receive your Sub Stack notices for good information!

Most likely one of your fb "friends" clicked "report" on your post. With millions of users, and despite their algorithms, I doubt very much that your "private" post to only 200 "friends" triggered any sort of alert.

Thank you so much, Jess, for these actions! I just signed up for the Project 2025 meeting. Also called and emailed reps about Supreme Court, and posted the Clean School Bus image and info on Mastodon (as a retired teacher, that bus news makes me very happy).

Did the Project 2025 meeting go forward or did the verdict distract too much?

I believe so. I wasn't able to attend. I asked if there would be a recording, but haven't heard back.

Hi Jessica! I'm wondering if you're going to send a script to call our senators to ask them to oppose HR 6090? From what I understand, the definition of antisemitic hate speech in the proposed legislation is so far reaching that it would make it illegal to protest the genocide of the Palestinian people by the Israeli government.

This is a great newsletter, but who has much hope when republican members of Congress spew lies about the election and the verdict in Trump's trial? They are violating their oath of office and all we can do is write letters and read newsletters. The Supreme Court is lost and are making decisions for the dark ages. Sorry, but I am feeling rather dejected.
