Hi, all, and happy Wednesday! I’m delighted to report that Leirion Gaylor Baird, the Democratic incumbent Mayor from Lincoln, Nebraska, won her re-election bid last night. This, despite the fact that Republicans spent an unprecedented amount of money trying to unseat her. Her opponent was a right-wing extremist and a forced-birther; thankfully folks turned out in numbers to stop her from taking this seat.
Great news! In another substack comments section, a local from Lincoln, NE said this about yesterday's election: "we kicked ass in the Lincoln, NE city general election last night......Dems won mayor, 3 of 4 open city council seats, and a clean sweep of all 3 open school board seats.....terrible night for MAGA in the capital city of a very red state! 😎👍" Thank you for all you did Jess!
