Thanks for the special mention, Jess! I hope we flood the Supreme Court with our messages!

Oh I suspect we will! Thanks, Bob!

We should make #"Supreme Court of Corruption" a new hashtag. It's both succinct and accurate.

Hi Jess. First CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU. What an honor to be invited to tge hearing. 2nd thanks for including the Healthcare Advocacy action on the WHPA and making it better. When I read tge news story I thought my head would explode.

You've taught us to take action. We will and we will win.

Yes we will, Alan. And thanks so much!

If you can set up a donation page I’d be happy to contribute to your trip. I’m sure others would as well. We need more people like you in DC, if only briefly.

I second this.

Can someone explain the issue, other than more performative control of women's health rights, with the Louisiana law? Aren't the two most commonly used drugs already prescription items?

Expand full comment

Yes but they’re trying to stop women from getting it sent in from out of state.

Thanks.

Jessica's trip to DC will cost about $1,500. If anyone can set up a GoFundMe page or figure out how to donate through this Substack--or other--I'd be happy to contribute. ✈

Setting up a Go Fund Me is straightforward. I used it in Guatemala, partly because FB donations don’t work there. I’ve begun the process of setting one up for you, Jess. Let me know if you want me to move forward, as I’ll need some information from you, and then you’d need to put the donation link here in your newsletter. If I set the initial goal as $2000, I’m certain we can raise it quickly from your readers. My email is paulasimmons39@gmail.com.

hijesscraven101@gmail.com if you want to write her directly...

I did. We’d still need a commitment from readers to reach the goal quickly, as I believe she said the event is June 4.

Quakers have a guest house for those coming to Washington DC in need of an inexpensive place to stay: https://www.friendsplacedc.org/

It looks amazing but minimum three people to a reservation unfortunately thank you for the recommendation though!

Looks like a great resource, will have to keep it in mind for future events.

Link to form to submit a request, which mentions a minimum of 3 ppl to rent:

FYI I'm personally glad to see that they ask whether everyone in the party is fully vaccinated for Covid-19.

" feelings aren’t facts. " You said it all, Jessica. We humans tend to 'react' rather than to 'realize.'

Much gratitude to Alden for making it so easy to mail our complaints to the Supreme Court. I really appreciate it.

I just followed Alden's directions to send my complaint PLUS I forwarded it to my FOUR sisters in hopes they will send complaints, too. Soooo appreciate this easy process.

I did that as well. Thanks so much, Marsha

Thank you so much for the pep talk, Jessica. It's been a hard week for all of us (but then again they've all been hard). It's tough but I know we have to keep pushing on through, no matter what, and never lose hope. By the way, here's something I found regarding potential bi-partisan legislation to restrain Presidential emergency powers and possibly prevent their abuse, as discussed during a Senate hearing this past Wednesday: https://lailluminator.com/2024/05/22/emergency-powers/

Great letter examples from subscribers, Jess! I will use them, albeit tweak it a little to be short, sweet, and to the point. I sent Durbin an email.

Thank you so much for the link to the dump Alito letter and process. So very helpful. I have been wondering how I could complain. This is fantastic. Thank you!

Resistbot stopped working for me today. Has anyone else experienced this? I use it daily. At first it seemed to freeze; then everything after April 30 seemed to disappear.

Expand full comment

Still working for me, just signed Jess's petition that got auto-delivered to me this morning (I get one daily). I go through WhatsApp since it costs less for Resistbot than using direct text.
