Thank you for the extensions to our representatives. I hope they fulfill their duty and represent us honorably. There are so many pressing problems but the debt limit extension is the most important. America loses if Republicans get their way and that can not happen.
Took time off of work today to phonebank for Deegan and Democrats in Jacksonville. It was yet another reminder of how imp it is to make calls. I spoke to two young women who were democrats and have voted in the past but neither one of them realized today was the mayor and city council election! Both said they would vote bc I reminded them.
Yeah sadly it is working--it just is so under resourced that unfortunately you have to call back a few times to get through. In the meantime the line will go dead, or not ring at all, or ask you to type in a number and then go dead, as it just did for me..it's ridiculous. They really really want people to use the email. But please keep trying.
I tried though after the 3pm ET hour. (Even though Jess instructed us the lines were open until 3pm ... time got away from me, and no excuse on my part!) When I called, recording said the WH comment line is open from 11AM - 3PM EST, Tuesday through Thursday. So I will call tomorrow.
Just read that Biden and Harris met with Congressional leaders this afternoon, and that his previously planned foreign trip will begin tomorrow though will be cut short due to this looming issue at home.
