Hey, everyone! Happy Friday!
I’m about to take off for a Capitol tour, so I’m sending you a woefully inadequate newsletter this morning. There are a couple of upcoming events I wanted to flag, so I’ve put them below. But you get the day off from calls and Resistbots!
We got to hear from Mark Kelly and Gabby Giffords yesterday—and Cory Booker the night before! All in all I’d say this has been a worthwhile and exciting trip already. There’s a lot of hope, a lot of excitement, and a LOT of awareness of the stakes we’re facing in November.
We can do this, everyone. And we will. With you on our team, we can’t lose.
I’ll be back to my normal publishing schedule on Sunday, when you’ll get a jam-packed list of the good news of the week.
Until then, have a great weekend!
Get Smart! 📚
Democrats are facing an enthusiasm crisis this election year - particularly with young voters. But Run for Something is here to boost the top of the ticket with what they’re calling (in Newsweek!) Democrats’ Secret Weapon – exciting young progressives running for state and local office.
Join RFS for a webinar on May 15th at 2pm ET where they will be taking a deep dive into Reverse Coattails and how their work is critical to boosting Democratic voter turnout by up to 2.3%.

Join NOPE, an all-volunteer organization that supports candidates and grassroots groups in battleground states, on a Zoom at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 14. You’ll hear from Arizona Rep. Ruben Gallego, who’s running for the Senate against Trump ally Kari Lake, and from organizer Melissa Morales, President of Somos Votantes, NOPE’s Arizona organizing partner. They’ll discuss how we win in Arizona up and down the ballot. You’ll have an opportunity to make a difference by volunteering and donating. There’s no obligation to do either, all are welcome to attend.
Sign up here for the Zoom meeting and bring a friend. Donate here to help elect Gallego and hold the Senate.
Win Races! 🗳
On Thursday, May 16 from 8 – 9pm EDT join Vote Forward and volunteers across the country to write letters to voters as we hear from Vote Forward’s Data & Research Team about their work designing experiments and analyzing results to learn more about what really works to turn out voters.
In addition to hearing from their Data Team, this letter writing event will offer a personalized, in-depth answer to the question “what should I write?” Vote Forward staff will help you craft an effective, personal message to voters, and answer all your letter writing questions.
OK, you did it again! You helped save democracy! You’re amazing.
Talk soon.
Jess
Thanks for the short newsletter! It's about all I can handle today. I wanted to highlight three school board races that Markers For Democracy is writing for this weekend. The elections are on Tuesday, May 21 so postcards need to be mailed on Tuesday, May 14th. Hope that some of you can help us get these cards done! One race is in Georgia and two are in New York. The one I am most familiar with is for the Clarkstown Central School District in Rockland County, New York, a suburb of NYC. There is a slate of experienced educators for whom we are writing postcards. They are up against a slate of candidates using Moms for Liberty rhetoric like "parental rights" and who are being supported by the local GOP. The GOP supported candidates are taking issue with gender neutral bathrooms and other LGBTQ-supportive policies. You can read about the background here. https://www.lohud.com/story/news/education/2024/02/09/transgender-school-policy-draws-cheers-jeers-in-clarkstown-new-york/72520358007/ You can read about the three school board races and other postcarding opportunities here. https://mailchi.mp/286dd869cea3/this-week-in-postcarding-510-issue?e=661948f71c We are having extended Zoom postcarding hours today, Monday, and Tuesday. All are welcome. Thanks! Have a good weekend!
Thank you for all that you do Jessica. If they handed out rings for people who helped win the election and saved Democracy like Super Bowl Teams, you would get one! Quick question, how do I get in touch with you? I have sensitive information that I would like to share with you that could move the needle with Independents.
