Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. —Dale Carnegie Hi, all, and happy Friday! I say “happy,” but I’m going to be real: I’ve been struggling the last couple of days. I don’t get down often, but this week my mental health took a bit of a dip. The news out of Ukraine, the attacks on LGBTQ people, the abortion bans, the Republican plaudits for dictators…it’s a lot. Yesterday I fell in a funk that even the confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson couldn’t completely lift me out of.
Jessica- thank you for sharing and yes we have all felt this- some days worse than others - but for me and no pressure- you are my beacon of hope every day. By all the work you do, I can do the list each day which helps me know I am doing something and on some days - more than something. But I could not do it without you. You make it possible and easy. I really cannot say thank you enough for giving all your time and effort. And when I join phone banks, or text banks, or big tent events I see more people and am heartened by those who attend and are fighting the fight too. I only know of these events because of you, and I find more because of you. Big, Big hugs are being sent to you with all the thanks I can wrap in them. ❤️❤️❤️
Jessica, thanks for all you do. And for the honesty of today's post. As a progressive activist working in Florida since 2017, I've struggled with days like yours. Your posts often help. So does this Wendell Berry poem:
The Peace of Wild Things
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
Thank You for everything you do for our democracy! You are amazing! It definitely seems like an uphill battle and we certainly feel on the verge of defeat sometimes. All we can do is persevere, and all of your work provides a path for all of us. Take care of yourself too Jessica! And my heart goes to the Ukrainian people💛💙
Checking in- hoping some self care is happening- have the grands here with all their antics- it’s why I am trying - thinking of you and wishing you hope and peace 😘

And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Thank you for everything, every day! Today's Resistbot needs to be "SIGN PTIQMP" (I just found out through trial and error. :-)
Thank you, Jess. Just thank you.
