There's insult added to the injury of the Dodgers' visit to the White House: They are Jackie Robinson's team. I mentioned this in my email just now: "How could Jackie Robinson’s team go to the White House and normalize what that man is doing to this country? Baseball is America’s game, and you’ve stained it. I’m beyond disappointed. I’m repulsed."
Hi Jess, do you (or anyone) know if there is a way to check in with Democratic grassroots organizations (like DCCC) to see who may be running for those targeted seats?
My representative is on their list and I have been thinking more and more about throwing my hat into the ring to challenge her. However, I don’t want to underscore or take away from a talented and potentially successful candidate if they have already announced their campaign and would rather support them.
There might not be candidates yet. One of the factors behind this list is the aid in recruiting that comes from knowing there will be institutional support at the national level. My district is on the list too, and we came close last time without DCCC support, so hopes are high.
Thanks, Dave! I actually think we might share the same representative from that list!
I’ve done some looking but can’t find too many folks making any sort of clear challenge to her seat. I probably would want to do some more research and talk to more people before I made any real progress, but I really appreciate folks like you (and others on this substack) cheering me (and others who might choose to run) on!
Thank you! I’m definitely nervous and feel completely unqualified to run, but their website seems very helpful and welcoming to folks with little experience!
I just called Congressman Suozzi's office to urge the No vote on the voter suppression bill--his aide assured me that he has come out publicly to state he is a definite no vote. Hopefully he can bring his colleagues along with him.
I am disappointed in the choice made by the Dodgers to visit Donald Trump at the White House. Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed cruel opinions and intentions about and toward the city of Los Angeles. And he is exceedingly cruel to the Mexican American community, a group that has long associated itself as Dodgers fans.
I was a lifelong Dodgers fan. I have seen this team through over 50 years worth of ups and downs. This is where I leave. I find it nauseating that you would turn such a blind eye to your fan community by visiting with a man who does everything he can to work against us.
Schumer has just signed on to Wyden's bill. Can't believe someone in his office actually picked up the phone. Also, asked that he be much more public in his outrage at the shredding of due process and the barbaric treatment of all of the men deported to the El Salvadoran prison.
"Celebrate your success. Enjoy the parade and show off those rings. (Those rings really are spectacular.) But visit the White House when it’s occupied by a criminal? WHY??? That visit will, for me, forever tarnish the championship. Baseball is as American as apple pie. Its champion should stand up for America. Now more than ever. You owe your fans — and all Americans — an apology. And if you win it all again this year, as most of us expect, please think a little harder before accepting an invitation from Benedict Donald."
I already emailed & will call Rep. Gluesenkamp-Perez’s office regarding the SAVE Act. I’m outraged that a Democrat would support limiting the ability to vote.
FYI- I just spoke to John Mannion and he is not on the fence- he is a hard no for the SAVE Act. If possible please retract. Thanks- He is working hard in his first term and has showed up at every event held in Syracuse!
My email to the Dodgers. I talked about growing up listening to baseball on the radio & Tv as a family while doing chores or getting ready for family BBQs. Going to games. Baseball is an all American game. To not read this moment in our democracy as a crossroads but to normalize his bucking norms and ignoring the law for his power grab. I’m deeply disappointed. I even quoted Cory Booker from his historic speech “it’s not a right vs left issue, it’s a right vs wrong issue.”
Thanks for providing a way for me to let them know my disappointment when I saw the news recently.
After going to the Philadelphia mass protest I peeked onto X and found a gang of MAGA's telling one another that those masses of protesters were paid to be there. This is absurd so I pointed that out but the fools "knew" they were correct, I merely suggested they wait for midterms to find out the truth.
“ Democratic members of both chambers of Congress attended the hearing, which featured, among other things, incredible, brave testimony from Liz Oyer, a fired DOJ pardon attorney.”
We all need to keep sharing the link.Liz Oyer’s testimony starts at ~ 20 min.📣📣📣
Hi Jess - My Rep Is Gluesenkamp Perez and I am mightily disappointed in her . Anyway I took your action, of course and then copied in into Healthcare Advocacy. Perez actually voted for the SAVE act last time. Shande.
Out local paper in Vancouver interviewed me today about her. Not the happiest story.
PS thank you for the Medicare For All release note!!
I called all 3 this morning on the budget resolution, tariffs, and the parade. Had a nice chat with Wagner's staffer, got Hawley's voice-mail, and for the second day in a row, Schmitt went straight to voice-mail, didn't even ring. The woman I spoke with said phones are ringing off the hook. We're going to win.

Thank you! Perfectly said.
Powerful message! I also wrote to them to voice my disgust but didn’t think to mention Jackie Robinson.
A bunch of unique emails is best anyway. Thank you for writing in!

email me what district you're in and I'll check! How exciting! hijesscraven101@gmail.com.
Go Natalie! And part of your effort should be to establish direct contacts with those organizations, let them know who you are! Good luck👏👏

Amazing!

If it's MO-2, we are.
Check out Run For Something https://runforsomething.net/ which supports and trains first-time candidates!
Thank you! I’m definitely nervous and feel completely unqualified to run, but their website seems very helpful and welcoming to folks with little experience!
Run For Something is THE BEST! My only concern is I'm not sure they support candidates for Congress--but please check! And YOU'RE QUALIFIED!
Read Mallory McMorrow’s book. Run and you will learn a Lot!
Jess,
I just called Congressman Suozzi's office to urge the No vote on the voter suppression bill--his aide assured me that he has come out publicly to state he is a definite no vote. Hopefully he can bring his colleagues along with him.
Oh great! I will pass that along to Indivisible.
Here's what I sent to the Dodgers:

I hope that visit was worth it.
Beautiful, Jessica. Thank you.

Fantastic! Shumer is scared of losing his leadership position so he's stepping it up a bit. Good!

Jared Golden's office says he will vote FOR HR 22. If you live in Maine's Second District call his office and express your outrage.
OMG REALLY?? What the f-- is the matter with that man?
Sen. Fetterman turned off his after-hours voicemail so you can't leave a message unless you call during business hours. Shameful!
The worst.
I tried all of his field offices, too. Same thing across the board. So I wrote an email 😈.

YES!
House Rep. Chris Deluzio (D) is holding a virtual town hall on Wed night this week to talk about social security and other entitlement programs
Great!
