I listen to Robert Hubbell and occasionally Heather Cox Richardson because they read they read their own posts. I was delighted today because I decided to listen and lo and behold, you were reading it!!! I really hate the "canned" voice that so many people use. I will listen to it from now on! Your enthusiasm and spirit shine through. Thank you SO much!

I am a supporter of Braver Angels and emailed them today of my joy at the New Labels decision. Think I already told you of feeling partly responsible for encouraging the kneading together of BA, No Labels, and the Problem Solvers Caucus and meeting with Pat McCrory and Ben Chavis; worried that they might be too eager to be national candidates. Glad that is off the table. Hope now to encourage BA to shift focus toward moving "dialogue to compromise" over to "dialectic to improve" solutions. The shift may actually encourage civility.

Thank you for the good news report and for moderating the awesome Food Waste Action Party yesterday. It's fun to take actions in that setting, and see the effect of our collaborative efforts.

Wasn't that fun? So glad you made it!

Loved your reading of your newsletter! I can now listen to you on the way to work, along with Letters from an American by HCR, and Today’s Edition by Robert Hubbell. Your letters are inspiring and help me figure out what I can do to help instead of feeling helpless. Thank you also for spreading Simon Rosenberg’s Hopium Chronicles, another source of positive action. My commute is becoming an activist classroom on the way to my classroom every day:)

Re: Earthquake, you shouldn't swear, and you know you totally meant it. Living near the New Madrid fault, we don't often have tremors, but when the big one hits it will be a zinger.

Jessica, thank you for all you do! I finally (my nemesis is sometimes hesitation) signed up for Resistbot. It's wonderful! I shared it on FB and tagged folks I thought might appreciate it too.

Isn't it terrific? If you haven't yet, you should go to their website and check out all the prompts they have. Truly incredible what a great tool it is. You can check your voter registration, see what bills are being voted on this week, and so much more.

Freezing is so effective for many foods, especially cooked leftovers. Buying frozen is most effective at preventing spoilage, Surprisingly inexpensive if you have a freezer running anyway. We captured the heat off the compressors to heat the offices upstairs. Tried to talk the USDA into blowing filtered cold night air into the coolers on zero nights, but the bureaucrats did not help. Not applicable at home.

So proud of you for moderating a panel on avoiding food waste. I imagine you are well versed in the difficulty in making a label that is even accurate and useful for many commodities. i am basically a Purebred Charolais breeder, but built a processing plant and sold CharLean beef to farmer's markets and restaurants; We processed one animal at a time, froze and vacuum packed in less than 2 hours. We identified each pack with the number of the calf and could track every hamburger back 6 generations. Age stopped this intense focus, but we found some pristine packs 10 years old that made perfect eating!

It IS a big deal. I wonder, Jess, if you're familiar with a group I utilize, called Martie.com. They cut deals with manufacturers and distributors to sell, at great discounts, shelf-stable foods that are slightly damaged, or just less than perfect. Ships direct to the home, and very quickly. Lots of organics. Great organization!! https://martie.com/.

Another piece of good news: you omitted the glorious fact that the No Labels team withdrew from the election run having found no viable candidate!
