Hi, all, and happy Wednesday! Feels like a hump day, indeed. It’s hard to tell if this has been a “good” (in relative terms) or bad (again, in relative terms) week yet. Tucker Carlson’s Fox demise has been beyond scintillating and delightful, true, but awful laws are still coming thick and fast, and the latest anti-democratic outrage in Montana (
Your anti-democratic actions disqualify you from saying the Pledge of Allegiance. To say that pledge, you have to believe in and act in favor of liberty and justice for all. This means letting Representative Zephyr speak!
Sen. Feinstein's absence is endangering a great deal and, IMO, her refusal to resign and allow Gov. Newsom to appoint a replacement is a sign that she's losing some of her faculties. She was, in her prime, a very effective retail politician who would have encouraged someone in her position to make room for a replacement in the best interests of both the party and the country.
I'd imagine that her staff must be frustrated too at being unable to participate in the very important discussions that are going on. We can only hope that she'll have a light bulb moment soon.
Her staff member told me today that “she is working remotely and is aware of everything going on.“ I told him that did us no good as far as the votes that we were losing right now and plus they’ve been telling me that same thing for at least a month and she needed to come back this week or resign. I tried as hard as I could to be courteous to him, but really let him know that voters were beyond fed up.
Hello, my name is ________ and I’m a constituent calling from (zip).
I’m reaching out to my senator to confirm Julie su for secretary of labor. She is fantastic candidate that has had the courage to face difficult fights and to address corporations that see their employees as an expense or even expendable. The senate should confirm her without delay because she will help our country move forward by shifting our country to a place where we see our workforce as they truly are: an investment in the future. We can give hope to our people and show them appreciation which is a win win as we can make those shifts while efficiently improving wages at less cost, if we can shift the mindset of our businesses.
If Democrat: Also, Senator due in has a chance to move us forward by reversing the antiquated tradition of blue slips and improving racial inequality. This will move us forward to confirming judges who are forward thinking and will help us take our country in the right direction.

First, I want my congressmember to vote no to HR2798, the CFPB transparency and accountability reform act, or any other legislation doesn’t protect the funding and operations of the consumer financial protection bureau. Americans want equality and fairness because it brings us together and helps heal division.
If GOP, also congress has to save our economy by raising the debt ceiling now. We must come together to save our country from financial ruin because once we can’t meet our basic needs, we will have to turn our desperation towards our elected leaders. If you vote for a clean debt ceiling you can help protect our country and avert catastrophe before it unfolds. Please help us come together to avert a crisis of your own making, when you can actually help us instead calm a crisis before it happens.
If Democrat: tell my congressmember that we want to avert a catastrophe by holding firm to a clean debt ceiling increase, because we can’t negotiate our future away instead by standing firm we can secure it. Thank you.
I think I'm too late. But will make sure to check in earlier next time. I did sign a petition earlier from Common Cause, though. Glad she spoke. Thanks, Eric.
My name is Lyn Yexley. I am a state officer in the DECF (Democratic Environmental Caucus of Florida). Yesterday I watched the Republicans in the Florida House pass H 1191, a bill that will allow the addition of Phosphogypsum to roads and highways. Phosphogypsum is a byproduct of fertilizer production, and because it produces the byproduct of radon, it has to be stored in impermeable bags at a cost to the fertilizer producer. Mosaic Company, the sponsor of this bill, would like to sell this byproduct instead. This bill is almost certain to pass the Florida Senate and go to Ron DeSantis to sign. Since DeSantis has national ambitions, I think it is only fair if the rest of the country knows what he is doing to Florida.
The bill is couched in language that sounds like it is an experiment, but when Democrats tried to attach an amendment that limited the use of Phosphogypsum to experiment until it was proven safe, Republicans immediately removed the amendment. This will become an environmental justice issue also, because the “experimental roads and highways” will most certainly be in low income areas, not in front of million dollar homes.
Radon causes lung cancer and neurological problems. Have we learned nothing from black lung, napalm, asbestos, lead paint, etc.?
Probably, but by that time - if DeSantis signs it into law - it will somehow begin to happen. Right now we are a few Florida Democrats who are trying to alert the rest of the country about the things that will happen IF Ron DeSantis should be elected president. He has no moral compass; he cares only about amassing power. He will veto this bill if he perceives its passage will hamper his presidential ambitions. We feel like a small voice crying in a wilderness of ignorance here in Florida. I watched as Republican lawmakers smirked and did everything to demonstrate inattention while the Democratic legislators made their speeches against this bill. Any way in which you can contribute to our efforts to arouse public outrage over this so as to encourage a governor veto is much appreciated.

Very good!
Great commercial, hard to picture a better start to a positive campaign.
Did Ms. Su get reported out of committee yet? Hearings were supposed to start yesterday but I haven't seen anything.
No I think DiFi being out is seriously endangering her chances.

Oh believe me I called today and, as nicely as possible, read her staffer the riot act. SO frustrating.
I'd imagine that her staff must be frustrated too at being unable to participate in the very important discussions that are going on. We can only hope that she'll have a light bulb moment soon.

Working remotely could mean many different things in this situation, hopefully the message about voter frustration will get through.

Can you tell if she's been allowed to speak?
Yes! We just watched her 5 minutes of brilliant and passionate and wrenchingly truthful speech.
She speaks at about 25 minutes in.
Do you know if they have yet voted to expel?
I think I'm too late. But will make sure to check in earlier next time. I did sign a petition earlier from Common Cause, though. Glad she spoke. Thanks, Eric.

OMG this is so awful. Will anyone sue to stop it?

OK I will rack my brain for ways to help.
