I have been ignoring the polls since the 2016 election,. We are creating a huge participatory democracy movement right now. No poll or pundit did that for us. Heads down and do the work.

I was just talking to my friend Michele Hornish about the roll-off down ballot information this morning. You are right. Absolutely mind blowing.

WASN'T IT? I'm so glad you were there. I think it was the most mind blowing political webinar I've ever been on.

And here I thought "roll off" was a type of Dumpster! Gadz, those facts and figures are sure...alarming. Once again, Jess gives us the info and the inspiration and the means to take action. Ongoing thanks!!

What was most salient to me in the Sister District presentation were some of the who & why of downballot roll-off. Because I could look in the mirror and say "Yup, I'm one of those people who rolled off my ballot" when I wasn't sure who the candidate was. Meaning not wanting to make a mistake and not realizing how much not voting was a mistake. And the idea that Democrats think federal and local elections are more important than state elections. But abortion may wake a few people up.

Yes! I could have done a TikTok twice as long about all the other stuff they discussed. Just fascinating!

Also, the real problem is lack of local political coverage and lack of interest.

A lot of the people who don't vote downballot also don't watch the news. They get their news on social media, where there is virtually no coverage of state-level elections or policies.

We have get on their social media feeds and explain how voting can change their lives.

I had no idea that "roll-off" was a thing! Addressing it is both an opportunity and an imperative. If Democrats are rolling off more than Republicans, we're effectively giving votes away, and with it, the opportunity to support the top of ballot candidates with people who can help them succeed.

Unless and until the Republican Party reconstitutes itself to actually represent their constituents and govern, perhaps our mantra should be, "Vote Blue, No Matter Who!"

I knew it was a thing, but not like this. Thanks for your comment!

I just have one question, and it is actually rhetorical. When do you ever sleep? This is so thorough and rich with hyperlinks and resources, your post always are, but you really outdid yourself today! Thank you for being there for us all and for the country. 💜💜

I sleep 7 hours (at least) a night. It's an absolute imperative for me. I just work six (or 5 and a half) long days a week!

Great information about roll off voters. Blue Voter Guide (bluevoterguide.org) seems like a great help for this situation. It shows endorsements all the way down the ballot to help uninformed blue voters make a better decision. I think we need to share this tool as widely as possible.

Sister District is a super organization. They helped a lot in PA and VA legislatures. This we the Supreme Court will give us another clear indication of who they are and what they stand for. The medical case and Trump’s immunity case. Pay attention!

Thanks, JustRaven! Yes, SD is one of the most important orgs out there. Unlike the States Project they don't just raise money for races--they recruit volunteers for them. It's huge.

Thank for the Sister District highlights. I hope, in your wonderful, very well researched way, you will be advising us how we can take on correcting this oversight with voters fior November. 🤞

Oh I will! I think a big part of it will just be talking to everyone you know and making sure they udnerstand how important it is to vote blue up and down the ballot, and why state-level elections matter.

This is one of the most helpful blog posts I've seen all year. It will help Democrats win more races. I'm a local activist and will let everyone I know involved in GOTV activity to make sure voters know about the need to vote the entire ticket. Thank you, Jessica!

I was there yesterday too and it was quite shocking but encouraging! Now we know some more groups we can reach!

I just got finished with a Womens March webinar that was great too. Something else to do in NY on Thurs. They are having a Day of Action called #JusticeCan'tWait in DC and NYC. It will be the day SCOTUS will hear arguments in trump's immunity case. Mike Sacks from Court Accountability (mike@courtaccountability.org) gave a great rundown about how the court could move quickly on this hearing, if they wanted to, and the trial could be done before the election! He stressed "Justice delayed is Democracy destroyed. Justicecantwait.org has all the info and a toolkit with things to share on social media. They would like anyone who can't be there in person on Thurs to share something at least twice on Thurs. Hope we can spread the word!!!
