Hi, all, and happy Friday! Welp. Twelve citizens have been selected to sit on Donald Trump’s criminal trial jury. It’s happening! Six alternates have also just been found. We may actually be in opening arguments by Monday! Remarkable. These jurors, a more-or-less randomly selected set of “average” New Yorkers, will face intimidation, threats, and possibly violence if their identities leak out. They all had the chance to decline the job. They didn’t. They are true heroes of democracy, every one. Let’s never forget it.

I am so grateful that you are shining the light on th Supreme Court. As readers of other sites know I have been very worried about the effect they might have on the outcome of the 2024 election. They have already shown a strong tendency to want to share the lives of all Americans to fit their own image of what seems to be a white Christian, country. Hope those jurors are used to living with mob bosses and extortion and threats and actual physical violence. Surely that scowling mobster sitting as the defendant is doing his best to intimidate all of them with all of the above. As old as I am, I came within an inch of running for the US Senate against Trump endorsed gunslinger Ted Budd just so I could shake my cane at Trump and call him a bully and a coward. I am an IKE Republican and IF I had beaten Budd(unaffiliated can vote in the Republican primary in NC),I would have won the General.Wisely decided to support Jeff Jackson instead. Then he dropped out in favor of Cherri Beasley who lost to Budd by 3.2%. She campaigned like the State Supreme Court Justice she was and NC is stuck with Budd and Tillis. I recognized the intimidation factor running as a Trump critic against someone endorsed by Trump whose minions are 1/3 of these woods. Let's stomp them this November!. He has adapted the Hitler radio heat to this century's screen.
