Why you should call your Senators DAILY and tell them to vote NO on the SLAVE Act. (Robbing women of the right to vote is the essence of the SAVE Act. Call it the SLAVE Act in every conversation. Use 5calls.org and be loud, people. (Thanks to Stephanie G Wilson, PhD for this framing.)

Should we call the 4 dems who voted for SAVE ACT

with Republicans, to boldly express our discontent, even though we aren’t in their districts?

I'm not an advocate of calling reps who aren't yours but I hear lots of people saying they're doing it. The problem is it's likely tying up the phone lines for actual constituents. They are the ones these reps will listen to.

Hi Kim. When I call my own senators, they ask for my zip code to make sure I'm one of their constituents. They end up with a count of how many calls they received on an issue. You can call the four senators who voted for SAVE, but your call will probably not be counted. At least that's how I understand it.

My thought on these four Dems - especially Ed Case who is in a very blue district who has no excuses. Sometimes the 3 red district Dems have to vote a certain way to keep their coalition together BUT a voting rights bill is so fundamental to our country that they should have opposed it and explained it to their constituents. Making it harder for people to vote - esp women and their own constituents in rural areas who are less likely to have a passport - is contrary to basis American principles and plain dumb. AND they will be asking all of US in blue states for money and time to volunteer on their campaigns. They won't get it if they do shht like this.

e need to frame our battle for democracy not so much as a bi-partisan political battle but as a humanitarian one.

We're in a fight for human dignity against the instincts of a reptilian brained, criminal autocrat masquerading as a "brilliant strategist" and his cult like sycophants.

Our goal is not to convert the MAGA sycophants but to win over the 10% -15% of voters who picked Trump because they thought he would better for their pocketbook in the short term.

How are they feeling after the past two weeks of the Reality TV show, Trump the President.

Listening to many assessments these points stand out for me:

1. Trump has a fanatic, not policy driven following. His followers are perfectly fine with Trump simply responding instinctually, hour by hour, to the crises of his own making. Policy zig zags are fine because "reality" changes from hour to hour. His followers wait for his "response" so they can "know" reality and how to "think".

2. Real reality is catching up to Trump's reptilian brain. Macroeconomics will continue to sink America's fortunes. Stocks will go down. Bonds interest and inflation will rise. Consumer prices will soar across the board. Americans will be poorer.

----The spin from Trump's inner circle and media megaphones that Americans must tolerate short term economic pain to bring good old manufacturing back to the US will not sell. It's a laughably silly insult to America's intelligence.

3. Trump's social agenda will drive millions away from supporting him in 2026. Cutting Medicaid and restructuring Social Security and Medicare benefits to give the upper 10% of Americans $2 Trillion in tax cuts is political suicide. America may aspire to entrepreneurial self reliance but we do not aspire to steal from the poor to give to the rich. Genuine health policy and research really matters to Americans. RFK jr is a bad joke. And so is the Hegseth/Gabbard not-American national defense.

4. We must continue protesting Trump's curated, laissez-faire agenda for America. Honor the spirit of the American Revolution.

Show up at your local "Hands Off" rally in April 19th.

Val B.'s avatar

House Democrats Jared Golden (Maine), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Washington), Henry Cuellar (Texas), and Ed Case (Hawaii) voted in support of the SAVE Act. This is from a UK publication The Independent, and I confirmed it with Newsweek. It’s important that we know who these jerks are.

I take it personally that they are trying to prevent me from voting because I am a WOMAN with a name change by marriage. I own property, pay my taxes, abide by all the laws, and they want ME not to vote. No, their plan is not going to work and it will blow up in their faces. How many Republican robo-wives who have a name change by marriage will also be disenfranchised? I already have my Real ID license and passport; many of the robo-wives won’t. (I call them robo-wives because they vote for whom their husbands tell them.)

Same, in WA north, and I’ve donated to her as well as I am very clear eyed about keeping the house. But enough is enough. She had a town hall last month where her constituents begged her to not vote for this. She doesn’t listen. If she has a primary challenger, I will donate, drive down to canvass. Whatever it takes.

Thanks so much once again, Jess Craven, for helping me move into the Jewish sabbath (and the very relevant Passover holiday) feeling that I have done something (just called my two senators and my rep). I try to sign off every Saturday to replenish (though not last Saturday- was out there on Boston Common with signs and 30-100,000 like-minded others (depending on who is counting!!) I appreciate you & hope you, too, can find some replenishment in your weekend!

I would also have ppl whose reps say they are concerned about non citizens voting - aks how many non citizens voted in their disctrict? Contrast that by how many eligible voters will be impacted. If the rep can’t name the number or say 1 name of a non citizens voting then pounce on their BS.

Jessica I really needed the one drop pep talk today. I have been so challenged this week thinking do more and give up vacations and more for the fight.

I read the polling article. The key is for the Democrats to get the message!!! Do not try to win races on items they don’t care about! Spend $$ and time on the talking points that the independents and now regretful Trump voters care about .

The Dems have ONE job as far as Lyin’ Donnie is concerned. JUST SAY NO!

Any of them who do not want to perform this one simple task should be told, unequivocally, they will be primaried out in their next election cycle. It’s called discipline.

Dem members of the House Judiciary Committee should formulate and present a Bill of Impeachment for Justices Thomas and Alito. It will never make it out of committee, but that is not the point. The point is to publicly lay the groundwork for the challenge when the power in congress changes.

The message to the public is simple. What was the price of eggs on January 19th and what is it now? How is your Social Security account looking?

Were you able to benefit from Day Trader Donnie’s manipulation of the markets to fatten his accounts?

Make a new TEA Party. Trumped Enough Already? Use their familiar words and phrases against them.

Attack! Attack! Attack!

There will be those who prefer to wring their hands and worry about how it looks to employ the other sides’ tactics. Let them sit on the sidelines. They can develop the plans we will need after we win the next election. They just need to keep quiet while we win that election.

It will take an extraordinary leader to ride herd on all these cats and impose some discipline. That person will have to be ruthless in keeping things going in one direction and resisting the all too familiar distractions Dems are subject to. That person will then need to bring those hand wringers back on board to implement the plans they developed. Where do we find such a leader? Maybe someone who gave a long speech recently?
