Tomorrow is Trump's so-called "Liberation Day" (when his horrendous 25% tariffs take effect).
To celebrate Trump's "Liberation Day," I suggest we and all Americans call our elected representatives and tell them to liberate America from Trump, Musk and Vance!
Tell them to Impeach Trump and Vance for Treason - they are attacking the Constitution and destroying the federal government!
What an epic night that was! We needed this wave of joy so badly! I have to say a sincere thank you to you for giving me the courage and the will to make phone calls, send emails, write postcards, etc. to resist the ongoing coup and to support Susan Crawford's election. I can't wait for Saturday! I may write a Little Golden Book -- "My First Protest"! 😁
I hope the person who needed a ride was able to get one! Souls to the Polls is a nationwide option. I’m a driver today, along with at least 30 other people on my shift and there seems to be good traffic at the voting sites I’ve been to.
I have seen multiple people talking about running for office because of Senator Booker's speech. Certainly not all of them will, but the fact that this is energizing people is awesome. I'm directing them all to Run for Something 😅
Just called my CA Congresspeople and spoke with a staffer in Ami Bera's office and spoke to him about the bills being brought to Curtis the judiciary. Went on to tell how much I appreciate Senator Booker's marathon filibuster speech. Told him I was watching on YouTube and there was 50k people watching on that platforplatform alone and with unknown number of other viewers watching on other platforms and pointed out numbers like that speak to the hunger of the American people to see our elected leaders take such bold and decisive actions against the crazy clown show that is the Trump administration.
Thanks for quoting Seneca. While his writings focus on individual philosophy, his ideas are also about resilience, community, and action--valuable tools for those of us involved in grassroots organizing.
Seneca stressed the interconnectedness of humanity, the core of grassroots organizing, where the human connection is the driving force.
Seneca's stoicism, seen in many contemporary movements, as in the civil rights era, emphasizes preparing for and enduring hardship. Remember the civil rights training schools in the South,
The 24/7 news cycle is too often powerful and discouraging. Seneca's teachings on remaining steadfast and focused on one's principles are relevant to maintaining momentum and morale in the face of opposition
Seneca's view (probably Jung, Gandhi, MLK, others) that all people share in the human experience can be applied to grassroots organizing, where the goal is often to advocate for the rights and well-being of a community or group of people.
I totally agree, and besides reading their direct words, one can read some commentators on the philosophy of stoicism. But there is a wonderful book out about the writings of Marcus Aurelius one of the great Roman emperors, a good guy, not a bad guy, who subscribed to the stoic philosophy.
thanks Pam. I used to turn my nose up at people who suggested I read ancient philosophers. I took one class in philosophy in 20 years of schooling. Now, I learn from them.

Louisiana voters slapped down four amendments to the State Constitution, on Saturday. The amendments had been championed by Republican Governor Jeff Landry, who vowed to try again, later.
So proud of Booker!! Doing my best to encourage younger people to work actively to help keep the country that will be theirs in a few years. Don’t let DT and EM win this fight!!!!

.
100%, Ralph! Glad to see another Stoics fan here! I quote Seneca as often as I can--he's only second to Marcus Aurelius, who's my all-time favorite.

I just got through on the 856 area code #
A real person answered and thanked me for my call. Right on, Cory!
Keep up the good work and cheering on all of us who are doing what we can!
Trump has a pan on fire on his stove and he is admiring the beautiful flame.
Cory Booker, Adam Schiff, Tammy Duckworth, Richard Blumenthal and so many others are rock stars!
I’ve been rivited to my computer all day.
