I voted in 1968, and I marched against the war, and my friends got gassed in the police riot at the Democratic Convention. I really don't want to see another good Democrat lose to a fascistic Republican because good Democrats are beside themselves about one problematic foreign policy.
I don't either. But I DO want to see a change of policy. That's what this is about -- the overweening power of AIPAC and the corruption of Netanyahu who is Israel's tRump. At this stage of the election, and given the extreme suffering in Gaza, I think the protests are valid.
I agree--they are. I just pray people understand that there is only so much Biden can do. But he needs to do more, and in some cases he needs to STOP doing. Like weapons sales unapproved by Congress.
Jessica - You are so amazing and inspiring, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate you. Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication to our democracy.
I have a thought…based on the Supreme Court’s atrocious decision regarding Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, haven’t all 9 justices provided aid and comfort to the enemy, as in the insurrectionists, and in so doing shouldn’t every justice be removed immediately under the 14th Amendment???
This Court is the most corrupt in our lifetime and possibly all of American history!!
I also recommend Simon Rosenberg, Hopium Chronicles on Substack. He has an optimistic outlook on the 2024 election and has us take action steps to help Dems when in November. He also does a deep analysis of the polls and why they are BS.
So glad you included that great States Project video. I'm going to be sharing that all over the place!
I loved seeing your list of what you are reading. When I give people my list, of course, you are at the top with Robert Hubbell! The one other Substack I love that I didn't see is Lucian Truscott https://luciantruscott.substack.com?r=7c9sb
Certainly hard to read everything! But I do enjoy his writing quite a lot. Mostly political writing but I also love his personal stories when he has time for that.
Hello Jessica. Thanks for your list of media sources you use. If you read Hubbell today, you will see he again excoriates the media for its failings (this time Politico). I have written to the NYT (cancelling my subscription) and Politico, but as somebody else said in the comments, it would be great if you could organise your followers to all write ON THE SAME day, cancelling/criticizing NYT coverage. Another related project could be to contact all the major journalism schools to ask THEM to call their grads accountable: Colombia, Medill, Madison, AZ. It's late in the day. The media needs to do more to save us and save itself.
I think you read Judd Legum, but ICYMI: his newsletter today is about corporate support for the Republican Governors' Association, which is backing Mark Robinson in North Carolina: "Many of the nation's most prominent corporations have donated 6-figure sums to the RGA — money that can and will be used to help Robinson's win. Major corporate donors to the RGA in 2023 included Microsoft ($400,000), Alphabet (Google’s parent company) ($378,000), CVS ($300,000), Pfizer ($300,000), Amazon ($275,000), Coca-Cola ($259,287), Deloitte ($151,000), and DoorDash ($125,000). " Which of our ally organizations would organize a letter-writing campaign to all of these corporations, focused on Robinson's "I absolutely want to take the vote away from women."? I don't have the bandwidth to organize this, but I could help.

Me neither, Georgia. I feel much more hopeful after being on the MVP call. We've got this!

YAY Congratulations on your election.
Yes, congratulations. I'm sure you will bring a lot to the table.
Thanks, Alan.

Oh my gosh I knew I forgot someone important! Yes of course! Adding him now!
Congrats on winning your election!

I'll check it out! I think I subscribed for a while--not sure why I fell off.

Congrats on your personal win! Thanks for providing so much encouragement in the face of such fascist, misogynist opposition.
Thank you!
The current N.C. Lieutenant Governor who is now the Republican candidate for Governor is Mark Robinson.
Yes sorry. I corrected it on the web version.
Thanks for the pep talk, Jess. You offer balm for the troubled soul.
Thank you, Patti!
Thank you for all of your optimism and suggestions on how we can WIN! Took me a while, but today you inspired me to be a paid subscriber. Thank you!!!
I really appreciate that, Nora.
Wonderfully stated, as always. And congrats on winning your election 😁
Thank you!
52nd Assembly District, Co Central Committee! Took a while to find you, but Congrats on your win!
That's me!

I've done it once or twice. I will try to get to it again soon.
Proves I don't read your posts every day! Shame on me and gratitude to you for your energy and dedication.
No one has time to do everything, friend. No worries!

Yup. I'll try to pull something together.
Thank you for the pep talk/ reality check. I am saving this email to re-read as necessary.
I echo your other subscribers, "you are amazing and inspiring!" Thank you.
Appreciate it.
