Sorry everyone there was a typo in the Extra Credit item. The hearing is at 3PM ET. I had it right in the suggested social media post but wrong in the text above. I've fixed it in the onlone version but if you got an email version it'll have the typo. Again, the correct time for the Social Security hearing is 12 PT / 3PM ET thanks!

Please urge all new-car dealers to clearly identify the tariff amount on a sticker adjacent to the regular window sticker. This is for transparency- let’s not let the tariffs get hidden in the MSRP - shoppers/buyers need to SEE the screwing they’re getting.

Great place to put this information--we all need to know what it costs us to have the rump in the White House

The Res. number and title of the Canadian tariff resolution are S. J. RES. 37

Terminating the national emergency declared to impose duties on articles imported from Canada.

If I call without that info, the staffers often won't take down the request.

If you're calling a GOP Senator, or Fetterman, you could add that it's bipartisan. Angus King (Independent) and Rand Paul (yes, that Rand Paul) are co-sponsors.

Hi all,

I just got off the phone with my daughter, who lives in Madison, WI. Of course she is voting tomorrow--and she tells me that the early voting lines have been long in and around her neighborhood. So hopefully that is a good omen.

However, she and her husband have received about 8 postcards in the last two weeks reminding them to vote, and their cell phones are continually ringing. She and her husband are very reliable voters--they have never missed an election.

I asked her if knew anything about voters in the outlying areas--where we desperately need to get a strong pro-Dem message out. She didn't know anything--and there is little reporting on any of the media sites she uses.

So here is my question and concern: we are overloading on reliable voters--are we getting to those that can help swing an election? And are we using our resources in the most effective way?

Hi Andrea,

I am a postcard writer and in general reliable voters would not receive a postcard reminder for a November election. They will still receive one for special elections or spring elections like the one in Wisconsin where the overall turnout is extremely low.

Just because you are a reliable voter in presidential elections or midterms doesn't mean that you vote in every election. If your voting history is that you also vote in ALL the primaries and off year elections, then your voter score may be above the cut off to get a postcard.

The best way to get taken off the phone call list is to vote EARLY. Otherwise your name and phone number will stay on the "has not yet voted" list. There may be multiple groups calling voters, so talking to one doesn't get you off the list for another group. Also if you ignore a phone call or hang up on the caller without responding you will get marked as "not home" and you go back into the queue. If you do not want to receive any calls from a specified group you need to take the call, identify yourself, and specifically ask to be removed from any future call lists.

Cheryl,

Thank you for your response. Like you, I am also a postcard writer and I join phone banks.

I am focusing on the incredible number of postcards (8) that my daughter and her husband received for this election and wondering if we have any idea about the number of postcards going to other areas of the state where there maybe people who we are not reaching--I don't disagree with reminding reliable voters about voting, but at some point, we have to think about our resources and how to make the best use of them

My guess is that your daughter is not alone in receiving that many postcards. In the past when we have had one special election that was very important at a time like this We would get volunteers from all over the country. I remember when Tom Swayze was running there were people in his district who got at least that many cards if not more. But it was everybody in the district not just some people so I assure you if your daughter got that many so did every other possible Voter.

Sen Fetterman seems to have changed all of his offices' phone systems today so that you can't leave a voicemail if you call outside business hours. Even Senator McCormick's offices will still let you leave a voicemail. Maybe Fetterman's getting too many CWCW calls...

Thank you for your work.

I think there is a typo in this sentence: "Please uphold your path of office and oppose NORRA." Don't you mean "oath of office"?

Thanks.

I’m sick of the Executive orders so I wondered if we the people can issue People’s Orders and send them to our legislators and/or read them out loud at demonstrations. https://open.substack.com/pub/liltaiz/p/we-the-people-issue-a-peoples-order?r=1hfw4t&utm_medium=ios What do you think?

I drove past a "Tesla Takedown" rally Saturday. It was at a well-traveled corner of our city, extending up toward a Tesla dealership.

I am all for costing Elon Musk many of his billions.

But in trimming his sails you are doing real damage to SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS who have nothing to do with Elon's gutting of our necessary programs and bureaucracies.

We need to find a way to protest Elon Musk and his billionaire vice grip on our democracy without harming our fellow citizens.

Do you mean because it cuts down on foot traffic? Peaceful protests wouldn't bother me any. I might linger longer! Protesters could easily provide a clear path such as "don't block the box" intersections, but otherwise, one would consider the type of business... lunceonette? Probably increases business. I wonder what else you would suggest.

I wish I had an alternative. I (and I'm sure others) would in fact not be comfortable going near a protest about the business I wanted to visit.

I just think folks should be sensitive to the reality that more than Musk is being harmed by these actions.

How do you do it?! My old brain is overwhelmed. I know that’s the point.

Question: is it preferable/more effective to keep hammering our R senators on WhiskeyGate or to call on different questions/concerns/outrages each day?

I appreciate wisdom from this community. Thanks.
