I just upgraded to a paid subscription after about two weeks of free emails from you. I find your emails to be a daily boost of optimism and action and I'm grateful for your work. Thank you.

Has anyone heard of any unions striking for climate change action? I am a union member (CSEA, which is part of AFL-CIO) but I have not heard of any specific actions.

Absolutely brilliant, Jessica!! Inspiring, heart warming, and a huge reminder of how every action, no matter whether it works or not, whether it is huge or tiny, every action has a reaction and a long term effect we may not see in our life time.

Reminds me of the cathedral builders in Europe. Most of those structures took more than a 100 yrs to complete, (i.e. Notre Dame began in 1163, completed in 1345) and, yet, those stone masons and others did not let that deter them from the vision of the completed building. Think, if you have ever been inside any of those buildings, of how awed you are at the size, complexity, and shear beauty of them. I bet none of those workers thought we would still be staring at the beauty of their work 700 years later. And, yet, we do not know who any of them were. I hope our continuing to build democracy, only 250 years old at this time, results in thousands of people looking back in amazement and gratitude, in the centuries to come, for all the hard work and steps we are taking now to preserve it. You are an integral and inspiring aspect of our journey, dear woman. Thank you for all your amazing work you do each day.

Thanks Jessica for sharing your tribute to Shirley Chisholm. She is one of the 69 pioneering women profiled in my book "Remembering the Ladies: From Patriots in Petticoats to Presidential Candidates" (along with the (recently late) great Pat Schroeder https://msmagazine.com/2023/03/21/pat-schroeder/ )*. I have made the PDF available for free on my website https://tellingherstories.com/book-remembering-the-ladies/ It also includes coloring pages and recommended children's books if people are interested in introducing the next generation to these indomitable women.

*On March 22, 2023, the House of Representatives will honor Schroeder with a moment of silence, which will occur during or immediately after first votes at approximately 6:30 p.m. EDT. On this same day in 1992, the Congress passed a final Equal Rights Amendment resolution for the states to bring the ratification process.
