I think you’ll like our local success stories, Jessica. A woman I met recently wants to “do something” but didn’t know where to start, so I forwarded a copy of your newsletter to her. Wow! She’s so fired up now! We’re going to have a gathering where we tell people which org’s to work with, what newsletters to read, etc, and have people write postcards. She started a book club where we’ll begin with Anand Giridharadas’s “The Persuaders”. She’s offering her family’s place of business for a weekly postcard writing evening. All because of YOU!

Another woman in the group has become a friend, and we’re starting #screamforsanity next week—which is just what it sounds like. Check us out on IG!

And….while petitioning this week, I ask women “what’s your big issue?” Each and every one says the same thing: abortion. And boy are they mad.

So I’m feeling more hopeful than I have in months.

Thanks! Jessica for the mention of Marilyn Land's campaign.

I called both my GOP senators - I got voicemail for the more reasonable one (Tillis) and one of his staff for the Trumpier one (Budd) who has naturaly NOT denounced Trump. But I stayed polite...

Fortunately my Dem House Rep has already signed on to the discharge petition, but I gave his office a call anyway to say thank you, since I had previously called to ask him to sign it!

Be confident in your feelings of hope!!!

This time around, the Wizard of Evil is exposed and totally without clothes... he's toast... where's he going to hide when he loses his sacred properties?

Watching the MAGA-GOP is like watching a cockroach convention when the lights suddenly go on..

“A cockroach convention when the lights go on.” I lived in the Philippines in the late 70s (I was 17). If you went in the kitchen after dark and turned on the lights, the cockroaches would indeed scuttle across the floor. I’ve never recovered from the trauma. 🤣 Well, there were lots of other traumas, but I digress.

I had that experience growing up in Brooklyn! The worst!

I had that experience in N Carolina in my cheap grad school apartment. It is a good analogy.

Just attended the live Bennan Center Live event

The Missing Constitutional Right

It is archived on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zORDTvDTLis

While I was listening, I was also writing VoteRiders letters to NC voters about ther new voter ID laws! Very a propos for a discussion about voting rights!

You’re not grasping at straws! I feel hopeful too - Biden is crushing fundraising, doing well in the primaries and getting endorsed (indirectly) by Republicans. And when there is momentum, other people get engaged and get involved and that is all we need to win! 🩵

My rep, Mary Peltola, is on the top of the list to request her to sign the discharge petition. So I wrote to her.

Loved your email today, as always. Though I also, fear more violence from Trump supporters, should we (strategically, for the coming election) really want DT to tone down his words? I know a number of former DT supporters who finally became fed up with the ridiculous, awful, words he spews and will either sit out the election or vote for Biden. We might be better off if he continues to offend people? What's your thought, strategically?

Honestly it doesn't matter what we want--he's going to keep doing it. I just want our lawmakers calling it out because it's not normal and it shouldn't be normalized.
