As many people as I could get a hold of are sending postcards. As suggested on March 15. Tell Don “you’re fired“! And I’m using my Ruth Bader Ginsburg stamps to mail it

Oh! I have some of those as well. They are first class stamps so more postage needed for a standard size postcard, but the symbolism makes it worth the extra cents!

Awesome video with details on the Stop Gap Funding Bill, Jess. You're amazing! Calling my Dem Senators now. I may attempt to be a little kinder in my messages than I've been lately. Well, since I'm practicing nonviolent communication. It's not working out so well. And will call Fetterman's office, yet again. Can't promise my tone on that one, either. And for good measure, I'm calling my full-out lacking in all integrity GOP representative who is all-in for whatever the utterances of the white house occupant. Now for that, I have zero tolerance. O well.

These are all good things. Can I suggest one more? Can we move to being on the offensive rather than the defensive? How about setting a vision of what the US could be if we

I sent to my family, many of whom have democratic senators (I don't have any, living in DC).

Hi everyone. I ask you to read this with an open mind and respectfully listen to what I have to say. Please hear me out.

I am asking everyone to call their senators ASAP - find their numbers here. These calls do matter.

Two points first:

1. DC operates on a balanced budget funded by LOCAL tax revenue, currently under it's 2025 budget.

2. I am NOT advocating for a government shutdown! Congress must keep the government open and pass a CR. We District residents want to bring the parties back to the negotiations before the vote. This CR can be passed and filibuster overcome easily without this provision explained below.

The bill passed by the House yesterday would force D.C.’s local officials to cut more than $1 billion out of the city’s current $21.2 billion budget, a move that would immediately cut funds to police, schools, water safety, etc.

These cuts are an unnecessary imposition by House Republicans on the city’s local budget and needs, and one that will produce no federal savings but plenty of local harm.

In years past, D.C. was allowed to spend according to the annual balanced budgets that Mayor Bowser and the D.C. Council formulate and pass. (budgets funded by locally raised revenue.) But in the text of the bill that was unveiled over the weekend, Republicans opted instead to treat D.C. the same as a federal agency, freezing funds and thus forcing the city to revert to its fiscal year 2024 budget – even as the city has been operating under its larger fiscal year 2025 budget since last October.

Crime and homelessness is down in DC by every metric and the schools are improving, despite what anyone may hear on the news.

I have no Senators. Taxation without Representation is real in DC, but this is not about federal taxes. It is about unnecessary control over a vibrant city's finances.

Time is of the essence.

If you've read this far, thank you.

joe

Thanks for the list of Democratic Senators who are wavering. It looks like our goose is severely parboiled. Why fight for a Democratic Majority when on this most important bill that will empower a complete takeover of the government by Donald Trump and Elon Musk, Democrats are willing to join in that surrender to the forces of dictatorship and tyranny Living in a red state with two MAGA senators, I have sent appeals to Senators in other states -- Senators who have asked for and received hundreds of dollars of donations from my wife and me.

You all know where that got me. For example, I received this from Senator Slotkin, she of the Democratic response to President's speech to the Joint Session.

"Thank you for contacting my office, and for taking the time to care about your community and your country. Because you do not live in Michigan, please direct your request to your home state U.S. Senators for their response. You can find your Senators here https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm.

Again, my sincere thanks."

I responded with a message that will never be read by anyone, which seems to be increasingly a good metaphor for the Democratic Party.

"Senator:

You are telling me to go away and not talk to you when you begged me for hundreds of dollars of donations last year, and we responded.

Tell me: I assume you are reluctant to "shut down the government." Please wake up. The government has already been shut down by the Republicans. Approving this Continuing Resolution, which has none of the marks of a true continuing resolution, will accelerate the destruction of the government that you are so fearful of "shutting down." Why are you a Democrat, if you are going to vote with the Republicans on key issues that allow them to destroy the government, deny rights to citizens, and establish a tyrannous oligarchy of billionaires in the United States

I know you will never see this, and you clearly don't care about anything except getting reelected five years from now. Good luck.

With sorrow and shame."

I has almost an entire pack of heavy pink cardstock that I cut to postcard size and shared! I wrote pink slip on mine, but others got a bit more creative ;)

Thank you, Jessica, for all you do. You are my primary source for assignments!

You are amazing, Jessica! Wonderful! Folks, call 202-224-3121, then ask for the senator or representative you want. You will be immediately connected 24/7. I call my two senators every few days and leave messages since I can rarely talk to anyone. I will continue to do this and urge others to join me. Program number on your phone. Easy. Usually I just leave a message. Can’t sleep? Call! Let’s flood them with calls every day. Takes only a few minutes.

Thanks, Jessica, for your great source of information and your continual passion for our democracy. When do you ever sleep or stop? Take good care of yourself for we’re going to need you for a long time, I’m afraid.

Used your letter as a template to send this to Fetterman .........

Please do the one thing that senators can do. That is to negotiate to be the adults in our democracy. You know that Republicans are pushing a Continuing Resolution that puts Social Security, veterans’ benefits, education, our allies, our economy, and more at risk, and does nothing to rein in Elon Musk and our dangerously out-of-touch radical president. This is the moment that Congress was made for.

You know that Republicans can’t pass the CR without Democrats' votes, so don’t give your vote to them. You have taken to social media to imply you're going to give up your power. Do not do this! Hard-working Pennsylvanians will be so disappointed if you and your fellow Democrats don't use your leverage and hold the line for a government funding deal that includes ironclad protections to stop Trump and Musk from hijacking federal spending — and our democracy. I expect Democrats to use their leverage to protect us from this unconstitutional DOGE.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

hate to send you somewhere, but Robert Reich has published a number of organizations and news sources that HE trusts, a couple times since January. The title, on both, refers to 10 Reasons for (cautious) optimism. He's on Substack, but can also be seen on blue sky, facebook, (probably X though I quit that scene at least a year ago), YouTube, and in daily emails I get.

You can call one of his district offices. They usually pick up the phone or at least have the capacity to take a message.

This page shows 4 regional offices for Dick Durban: Chicago, Springfield, Carbondale and Rock Island.

Are people sending pink slip postcards or regular postcards?

I think either is good. I had a bunch of heavy pink cardboard stock we cut to 4x6 and made our own "pink slip" designs.

Related to the upcoming post card blitz...some comments I've seen indicate that there is not any media coverage set up to cover the arrival of all the cards at the White House, making it very easy for the administration to act as if it didn't happen. The Card Campaign who began this initiative have admitted that they are just a few people sitting around their kitchen table, and media coverage is beyond their scope. Jessica, do you know creators who can provide coverage of all the post cards being at the White House?
