400 people in my town of 1200 in western North Carolina a red county in a red state showed up Saturday for a pro democracy anti Trump-musk regime rally. It was my first ever experience with using my voice for political reasons and it was exhilarating!!

A friend and I went to a Tesla Takeover picket in front of the downtown Boston showroom over the weekend - couple hundred people and a brass band singing, chanting, and waving our signs to the music. It was fun and uplifting and I highly recommend. Punching up!

Charlotte NC protest against DOGE, Musk and Donald Trump. In front of the Tesla dealership last Friday. 100+ activists from Indivisible Charlotte and friends. And LOTS of honking from passing motorists -- Charlotteans want DOGE out of our government!

I joined in the Stand Up For Science protest in support of science at UC San Diego on Friday and it was wonderful and uplifting! One item in your Sunday good news piece that particularly brought tears to my eyes is that pressure on the administration resulted in them walking away from the position of cutting off legal aid for unaccompanied immigrant children. That helped me gather my energy for the continued fight. Thank you!

Hi, Jessica, Wish we could post pictures of the Stand up for Science Rally on Friday and the protest everything Musk and Trump rally in Monument Square, Portland, Maine on Saturday. This morning I called my wonderful Rep. Chellie Pingree and my Senators King and Collins regarding the continuing resolution (the vote in the House could be tomorrow) and then posted several places on Facebook and Bluesky: "Call your Representative & Senators to vote against the Republican "slush fund" Continuing Resolution that includes no limits to stop cruel and arbitrary impoundments and firings. Yes, the government may shut down but stopping passage can force Trump and Musk to stop their unconstitutional actions and restore the power of Congress."

Hi Jessica, I was able to attend 2 rallies this past week and weekend sponsored by Indivisible South Snohomish County here in Western Washington. Both were invigorating, lots of positive feedback from the passing motorists with honking and thumbs up. I’m ready for more!!

Jess you were understandably full apoplectic in your video yesterday about Social Security. This update is a bit more muted in comparison. I called today as I always do.

Tis goodness.

Since I usually don't get to your great newsletter until after Congressional offices have closed, I frequently modify your scripts to send via email.

AS A SUGGESTION: the Senate offices all seem to accept comments from non-constituents (the House offices don't as far as I can determine) so it won't hurt to send comments to John Thune, as well as the chairs of any relevant committees. I remind them that as part of the Senate leadership, they work for me even if I don't live in their state.

What I usually do is just call after hours and leave a voicemail. That is equally effective to talking to a Staffer as long as we make sure to leave our full name and address. Or ZIP Code if it’s a Senator
