Well, we made it through another week! It really does feel like dog years, doesn’t it? Seven days in the MAGA era seems to equal a decade in “normal” times.

But we’re doing it—that’s the important thing. We’re enduring. And as Frederick Douglass said: “The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.”

Indeed.

So let’s make sure the tyrants we face are limited everywhere they turn. We can do that. We know how. We need simply keep taking action…and not quit.

Talk about a “prescription” for success.

I’m thrilled to hear that U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren and Congressman Hank Johnson have re-introduced The Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety Act, a sweeping bill that would keep dangerous individuals from having guns, require responsible gun use and storage, keep weapons of war off our streets, crack down on gun trafficking, improve oversight of gun dealers, hold the gun industry accountable, and invest in gun violence prevention research.

Now that the first federal report on guns and violence in over twenty years has been published, we know this is the time for this legislation. As my representative I want you to co-sponsor this bill—its numbers are H.R.286 and S.5299—and see it through to passage. Gun violence is a top concern of mine. Thanks.
