Just called one of my senators, and their office answered!

Thank you for all you do! Your info makes it so handy and efficient to actually take action, virtually every day. I had no idea about Resistbot and so many of the groups you feature. Thank you!!

Update from yesterday’s post. At LEAST $625 worth of Biden shirts flew off the shelves. See you all at the grocery store. (One of those shirts was me, buying my fifth Biden shirt)👕 🛒!

So heartbroken about Nex. I'm a mom of a non-binary young adult and I'm a psychotherapist. The hate spewed at the LGBTQ community by people with platforms and power is leading to very real violence and terror. The mental health impacts are real. I had called the White House and my senators, but I had not thought to call the department of Justice. Thank you for that nudge. I would also encourage people to look for vigils in their community. I am attending one tonight hosted by the Minneapolis federation of teachers. Showing up with our bodies can be important visual activism.

I recently purchased a t-shirt on Etsy that encapsulates my feelings about the GOP and their disgusting vitriol - especially about the LGBTQ+ community:

"If your heart is full of hate you are doing life wrong".

Hey Jess,

Lots of horrible, divisive issues this week for sure. Stay hopeful. IMO, the divisive issues will keep costing TRUMP/MAGA lots of votes in Nov.

There are many moderate Republicans who don't want to live in a freedom cancelling theocracy and women across the board who aren't interested in having there reproductive rights controlled by Judge/Archbishop Tom Parker of Alabama or their state legislatures.

We just keep fighting.

I attended the Galvanize Action webinar this week - I thgink I found out about it here, but I read a lot of substacks so I could be wrong!

I thought it was great. Their target audience is moderate white women and they are very analytically focused which my math nerd personality appreciates ;-). As a follow up they sent out an emailwith a link to their playbook of ads on various topics:

Yes. I posted about it here and also asked Robert Hubbell to post that event so you could have heard about it from his newsletter, too. I think they are one of the most important groups out there. I LOVE the work they're doing.

Dems have traditionally had a bad rep for poor messaging - i.e., focusing on policy instead of feelings/emotions. I think that was probably true in the past, but not any longer!

Oh my Cheryl thanks for sharing this! What a website. I'm just now sitting down to write a letter to the editor in support of a primary election candidate and this is so helpful.

I'm glad it was helpful for you ;-)

I didn't think about using the framing of the ads for a written letter to the editor, but that is a very good dea!

That's whar I love about the communities I have "met" through this substack and others to which I subscribe - we are all working towards a common goal and are willing to share what we have found useful.

I think you're talking about the frozen assets. I've been combing my sources for an action on that and will bring on as soon as I find it.

Jean, you will appreciate "Every War Is An UnCivil War" inexpensive on Amazon Kindle or Paperback, 4th Edition. Focus on Israel/Palestine, but the chapter on Putin's War contains a peace that allows Putin no territorial conquest but allows him to 'save face' with RUM, rejoin world commerce and remove his military from Crimea. Love, Doc

Hi Jessica, I write a lot of postcards and I just had an idea. I’m going to use some of my yellow flower themed postcards to send to all Republicans in the House with a simple message: “Support Freedom. Fund Ukraine. I Vote.” Who wouldn’t want to come back from a two-week vacation to find their mailbox stuffed with sunflowers?

I just sent this message to my two democratic senators:

Senator, I hope senate leadership will conduct an investigation and hold hearings on congressional republicans’ use of Russia-sponsored disinformation to attack President Biden. Are Senator Grassley, Reps Jordan, Comer, Stefanik and others active and intentional Russian assets? Or just Putin’s useful idiots? Americans deserve to know. We all need to know, and if evidence emerges that these politicians knowingly work for Russian intelligence operations they should face charges of treason.

Love that Zinn quote! In August 2020 I put it in the signature on my personal email account. The idea was "until the election" -- but people keep commenting on and appreciating it, so I've kept it going. Rereading it is a go-to mental health boost, like getting Extra! Extra! and these daily CWCW posts... 😊

Thank you, Jessica, for suggesting calling our senators. I just called my senators, Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin, and staff answered the phone at both offices. I inquired whether each senator had called for an investigation into Grassley, Comer, and Jordan. Neither has, as yet, but the staffers are passing my comment on. Let's hope we can get this inquiry going. Either these three were duped, or they are deliberately acting as Russian assets. Neither option is acceptable.
