Love your interest in ancient history!! As William Faulkner wrote: “The past is never dead. It isn’t even past.” All we face has been faced before. Details change but essential realities remain the same. If enough Americans respond, we meet this challenge of our times. Thanks for all you do.

Good afternoon, I enjoy reading your newsletter and really enjoy copying and pasting your suggested letters to my Senators and Congress-man. The other day I copied and pasted your recommended letters urging my Senators and Congress-man to support the new CHILD CARE TAX CREDIT. I believe that, we as a country need to help out the less fortunate., no one should have to starve in this country. I was very surprised to find out that the proposed legislation only minimally will help poor children, at the same time helping the very wealthy immensely. Had I know all that was involved in this legislation, I would not have sent the letters. That's on me. Thanks.

Hi Jessica, have you drafted, or considered drafting, a script for calling Congress members about reforming Section 230 of the Communications Act of 1996? This is the provision that exempts social media sites like Facebook and Twitter from liability for the defamatory content that is posted on their sites by third parties. It is long past time to hold these now giant corporations to account legally for the libelous and indecent muck that permeates these social media sites. The protection from liability provided by our government to these corporations through the Section 230 provision needs to be lifted so justice can be served. No other media has this government granted privilege. This ought to be a major issue for Democrats to campaign on, one for which I think there is relative bipartisan consensus. I think there is a bill in the Senate (SAFE TECH Act S.560). Let me know what you think. Here is an excellent article from Thom Hartmann about the abuses caused by Section 230:

Jessica, I wanted to research what companies Warren and Jayapal were targeting. So it appears that if any of us have private Medicare Advantage plans in the following insurance companies, there is a real reason why these great senators are going after them: Humana, Centene, United Healthcare, CVS/Aetna, Elevance Health & Cigna. These companies increased their monthly payments from customers while posting record profits in the trillions! While their executives and shareholders were getting paid millions, the increase in profits was 287%!!!!!!! I have what’s called Kaiser Senior Advantage where I get all of my medical issues taken care of at any Kaiser facility. Even if I am traveling and am not near a Kaiser, they still take care of me and my husband. In fact, this happened twice to us. I know a lot of Californians have issues with them, but they have been pretty decent to us for 48 years. Just thought I would put my 2 cents in! Keep up the great work!

Such a well written perspective on "history". Would love to sign Sen. Warren's letter; Medicare "Advantage", but klutz could not see how. Real solution would be the Medical Care Restoration Act, text in Chapter 2 of "The Price Of Eggs Is Down" amazon kindle/paperback.
