All great stuff. But I wonder if not buying from corporate America would be a doable and more powerful weapon. No more fast food, no more Amazon, buy from Costco, dinner out at locally owned restaurants, produce from local farms and co-ops. Ice cream from Ben and Jerry's. Don't put money into the hands of oppressors, as far as possible.

I’m not buying anything but the most basic necessities. Bought a freezer before Joe left office and stuffed it full. Big outlay, but I haven’t purchased anything but bananas since early January. Whatever the billionaires are selling, I ain’t buying.

I made my phone calls and submitted my story with Center for American Progress Action. I am a 29 year flight attendant and 32 year employee at Southwest Airlines and I’m furious at the Trump administration slashing and gutting jobs at the FAA. This is affecting my job security and our company’s bottom line. 16.8 million domestic flights a year take off and land safely. I do not worry about going to work three days a week, week after week with the amazing pilots that we have. I trust them 1000% with my life and the lives of our customers. It is irresponsible what the Trump and musk regime is doing to the FAA. There are safeguards in place and heightened scrutiny. We don’t know the cause of the DCA crash because the NTSB report has not come out yet and even in normal times it can take months for the report to be finalized . It may or may not have something to do with staffing levels at that tower when it happened. Regulations are still in place that govern the safety of air traffic. Hundreds of thousands of employees are dedicated to the safety of air travel. It is embedded in our lives, the freedom to fly, and knowing that you flew to San Francisco and back along with Robert Hubbell and his wife Jill just this week shows how common place and how often air travel is a part of everyone’s lives. What Trump and musk are doing is unconscionable and needs to stop!

You for your dedication !!

Oh my gosh, I’m so embarrassed. I don’t know what I was looking at but I got my statistic wrong originally. It’s not 64 million but actually approximately 16.8 million domestic flights a year. I will correct my original comment.

Jessica, I realized yesterday how dependent I've become on your scripts for congressional phone calls -- but that's not a bad thing, and I'm SO glad you had a chance for some restoration, recognition, and well-deserved appreciation in SF!

I was moved to tears listening to you and so deeply appreciate all that you are doing in this moment to keep our spirits strong and our actions meaningful. Thank you.

We should all call it the trump regime, not administration. Not my idea, someone else suggested it, but I liked it enough to share with others.

We need to plant victory gardens like they did during World War II - but this time we are protecting ourselves from the corrupt oligarchy. My Italian grandmother taught me how to pick mustard greens on the hillside east of Los Angeles and steam and eat those. I’m so glad I started eating mostly vegetarian since 2020. Ever since 60,000 laying eggs were burned alive at Hickman Farms in Arizona I stopped buying eggs and try not to order anything with eggs when I am eating out. Concentrated animal feeding lots make my stomach turn. Those poor birds were trapped in cages and often they are unhealthy and their feet get mangled because of where they are living, and the poop just rains down from one level down to the next down to the next on top of them. Hideous and gross, now don’t get me started on pig and cow feeding lots.

I just spoke to Congressman Bean’s office, FL NE district 4. The aid was polite and stuck to the script without answering questions directly. Not a satisfying conversation but at least my call made one more tick in the column opposing the Trump agenda.

I have tried many many times to call my senators and the only person I’ve been able to get was my house representative. All the other times I have called. I have been told that the voicemail is full. It’s incredibly frustrating! Especially because I always want to ask them what they are doing in this period of crisis. And it’s frustrating not to be able to ask them that because their “voicemail is full”

Just called my two senators and congressperson. I learned: keep message short. And I actually got to speak to a human at John Garamendi’s office. Yesterday, I was asking,

“Who is our Navalny?” Today

my thumb points at me, it’s us!

But it would be nice to have one big Navalny-like person to rally us.

If you are a constituent of John Garamendi, I also recommend nudging him toward retirement. He is 80 years old! He has been my representative in the past, has done a good job, but it is time for him to step aside and let the younger generation have a chance at governing.

So glad you enjoyed the Club Fugazi event! I am a CTD member but was in NYC yesterday so missed it. How would you judge the turnout for Monday’s protests? It was super cold and windy in NYC which probably suppressed turnout but I have not seen any commentary on turnout. Thanks for your great newsletter!
