Hey Jessica! I just want to put a race and candidate on your radar. The 41st in California. I am volunteering for Will Rollins and the difference between him and his Republican opponent could not be starker. This is my very first campaign I've ever volunteered for and I am thrilled. He's a wonderful man and we need him in Congress. Please check him out, he's the real deal.
I read about LUNA LUNA and wanted to see it but here I am on the opposite coast. My granddaughter lives in L A.. Will figure out how to send her a guest ticket if such is available. However....I am so happy and relieved you spent such a wonderful day and had fun. Happy New Year. jean
Hey, Jess. What do you think about HJ Res 54? This bill was authored by Rep Jayapal in April 2023, calling for an end to Citizens United. It has several co-sponsors, but need more. Thanks for your thoughts!
Thanks for that! And I believe I've put calls to action about this bill in before, as well as another one authored by...Swalwell maybe? There are a couple of CU repeal bills. I strongly support them, of course, but we'll need Dem majorities to pass them.
I think Jessica's "absolute must-read from the Frame Lab" needs all the attention we can muster. How often do we read complaints about Democratic Party messaging and what "they" need to do? And questions from grassroots activists about the most effective wording?
The answer seems to be "both/and" between this guest post from FrameLab contributor Jason Sattler and reader comments. Sattler cites George Lakoff in 2016 that Trump cannot tolerate being a loser, and the problem with recent comparisons of Trump with Hitler is that Hitler was a "winner" which excites Trump's base. Some readers suggest doing it all: Call out Trump as a loser, call out his dictator plans, and frame our messages, especially to undecideds, by proactively speaking to people's needs and values, as on personal freedoms and autonomy, along with critical popular government protections, e.g. Social Security, Medicare, clean water and food, safe roads and bridges, etc.
Really interesting. I worry a little that people will pour TOO much money into this race at the expense of other, more winnable ones. BUT I love that she is going to hammer him about the abortion allegations and run on abortion in general. THAT is amazing. Thank you for flagging this for me.
Thanks Jessica for promoting the Thu 1/11 Maine phone bank for the National Popular Vote Compact!
NPV is a key solution to making our democracy more representative. Just imagine if we didn’t have to care about the polls in a handful of swing states, because every vote for president mattered, no matter where you lived? If the winning presidential candidate was the one with the most votes nationwide, there would be no “battleground” states.
That NPV Compact offers a way to elect the president by the national popular vote, without abolishing the Electoral College. It's not a "work-around" either; the Constitution leaves it to states to decide how to vote their electors ("winner take all" didn't start until the 1800's).
Check out the phone bank on Thu 1/11 mentioned in today's CWCW to help get Maine to join NPV. Grassroots advocacy has been behind every success in getting states to join since the 2016 election.
I love it! We went to Luna Luna, too, to celebrate the twins turning 17! Super cool art that’s basically our family photo postcard for 2024, glad you got to see it, too.
If you've already signed it it won't let you sign it again but if it was yesterday's petition that's weird, because I only created it, well, yesterday.

Yes! I sent something out about him to my Chop Wood, Carry CA list earlier this week! He's great!

Do. It's really not to be missed.

BTW, love the IRS video. I posted it on my FB page.

Oh, dear. My memory isn't what it used to be. Sorry about that!

I choose that option. Call it ALL out, but repeat the word LOSER often.
Just wanted to share the good news that James Comer (R-KY) has a Democratic challenger for the 2024 election! Here's the link...https://web.sos.ky.gov/CandidateFilings/default.aspx?elecid=82&id=4 Her name is Erin Marshall & here's a great column on why she will be a formidable opponent! Hope it's not behind a paywall. https://www.courier-journal.com/story/opinion/columnists/gerth/2024/01/05/jamie-comers-latest-foe-erin-marshall-likely-to-bring-abortion-claim-to-forefront/72094395007/

Well, that's exciting!

Yes, yes, yes!
I called Chairman Comer's office and spoke to a person, who said she would pass on the message. :)
LOVE IT. Thank you!
Thank YOU!
