Hi, all.
I wanted to send a quick note out to all of my Southern CA subscribers, as I know there are a lot of you. I, myself, am a Los Angeles resident, so I know firsthand how frightened and stressed everyone is feeling right now. Mj and I are supposed to fly back to L.A. today—in light of circumstances we will delay at least a day. It’s all really scary. I have friends who have likely lost their homes, and countless more who have evacuated and are holed up with friends or in hotels. My brother’s family just evacuated an hour or so ago. Even those who are “safe” for now are dealing with horrific air quality. Obviously the fires are still raging, so it may get much worse before it gets better. I just keep reminding Mj—and myself—that it will end. Small comfort, but we take what we can get at moments like this.
Anyway. I’m sending so much love, folks. Please stay safe if you’re in the SoCal region and let us know in the comments if you need help. I’ll be back—hopefully?—tomorrow.
Jess
They are evacuating my 93 year-old dad and 91-year-old mom along with all of the residents of their retirement community in Bradbury near Duarte, CA right now. Thank God, my sister lives nearby and my mom can go stay with her. Not sure where they are going to take my dad since he needs skilled nursing. I live out of state and it’s difficult to hear and see what is happening to so many people in such a widespread area of the Southern California, Los Angeles basin. Prayers and thanks to all the volunteers and emergency responders and prayers and hope for everyone’s safety.
Thanks so much for posting this and stay safe and together.
