I called my senators (Dems) and congressman. I called my congressman for the first time (he's a republican in his first term) and his staffer told me they have been receiving many calls about the funding freeze. I could hear their phones ringing off the hook during my call. Go democracy!

I am leaving (more than) impassioned voice mails for Fetterman (ergh) and McCormick (more ergh). I just hope someone is listening.

Me, too! They are my Senators as well. Emailing and calling my senators and congressman is basically part of my morning routine now, sadly. I called Fetterman’s office today because I read that he’s considering a confirming vote for Kennedy Jr.! I was shocked and let him know it.

Me three. I truly don't know what has happened to Fetterman, but RFK, Jr. is unqualified and I just left a message for him. I also just got off the phone with Ryan Mackenzie's office and was told that senior officials at the White House have assured them that things like SNAP, Pell grants, etc, are exempt from the freeze. Yeah right. This is so discouraging.

Fetterman has infuriated me. On many levels. And McCormick is a joke. I whirl and whirl. I keep trying.

Also call Senate Leader Schumer (202) 224-6542 tell him you are a Democrat and want to see Democrats launch a strong opposition. Then call House Leader Jeffries (202) 225-5936 and say the same. How could they not be prepared to be loud and unified knowing Project 2025 was coming?

Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs isn't answering their phone.

Ranking members are Rand Paul (Majority): 202-224-4343 and Gary Peters (Minority):(202) 224-6221.

Other members (in case they are your Senator and you would like a word):

Rick Scott

Josh Hawley

Bernie Moreno

Joni Ernst

Ashley Moody

Margaret Hassan

Richard Blumenthal

John Fettermann

Andy Kim

Ruben Gallego

Elissa Slotkin

FWIW, All of the Dems on the committee voted to confirm Kristi Noem. Do with that what you will.

Thank you for providing the Senators names/numbers. I called them directly and very kindly told them to get the main number fixed and then expressed my views. I find it extremely interesting that since last Monday I have not been able to speak to anyone at any of the offices I have called. So I am making daily use of the Resistbot Jess has shared along with leaving voice mails.

Thank you for the updated numbers and names. I left a message for Sen. Paul. Also called my 3 congress members (all Rs) per today's email. Actually spoke to live people in 2 different offices!

Emailed and called my Senators this morning with the basic message of "when the hell are you going to stand the f*ck up for your constituents? Why are you not screaming from the rooftops about all this illegal action by a Convicted Felon?"

Crickets so far. And they are Dems. I'm extremely angry.

They did have a pretty strong press conference yesterday to respond to the freeze. But not strong enough yet, I agree.

I made my first phone calls today. And I'm 67, never missed an election. I have all Democratic senators and congressman. It felt good to call. (Does it really make a difference?) I tried to call Senate Committee for Homeland Security but I get hung up on each time.

Yes, Susan. Calling makes a difference. it is the main way Congresspersons off in DC have to hear directly from THEIR voters. It is our way around the big money/TV buyers into the minds of those who are supposed to represent us instead of only the moneyed persons. Love, Doc

I follow Maxwell Frost's socials and he's holding a press conference today at 4:15pm (maybe EST?, idk). It looks like it will also stream live from his Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/repmaxwellfrost/

*UPDATE* Just finished watching Maxwell Frost's press conference today. Lots of takeaways, but if it seems like they're not speaking out fast enough today, it may be because they are trying to get in contact with organizations in their districts. He talked about speaking with multiple orgs and agencies in his district and county today that are being impacted and trying to get a better sense of things. That makes sense and matters.

Jessica, an idea about messaging:

2026 is important for at least 2 reasons. First, it will mark the semiquincentennial of our country's founding on July 4th, 1776, 250 years before. It's sad to think that a convicted felon, if still alive, will be leading the country's observances.

Second, it's also an election for 33 senators and all of the House.

Perhaps we should tie the 2 events together, starting now, to make it about a re-independence of the United States. I think it would work from a marketing standpoint to engage apathetic voters in an off-year election, and remind us all where we have come from, and where we are headed.

Did you guys see this from Dan Rather. IT's terrific and important. He's going to post this kind of thing on a regular basis. HERE in yesterdays' substack

FOR FILLING A VOID

The Trump administration has taken down several government websites, including a Spanish language version of the The White House website and a page on WhiteHouse.gov dedicated to the Constitution. It also removed ReproductiveHealth.gov. The latter site was launched by the Biden administration to provide information about women’s rights to abortion and contraception since the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

So that women still have access to this vital information, the media company theSkimm bought the web address reproductiverightsdotgov.com, which now redirects to a page on theSkimm site containing the information the government site did on the day it was taken down. The company will update it as needed". Hoorah.

Called my 3 reps. All Dems, and one of them is Sen. Schiff who Trump recently 'mused' about how Schiff looked like he'd been beat with a bat.

They are all fighting back, but all the Dems in Congress need to do more.

What happened to Andy Kim? He voted to confirm Kirsti Noem??? He was on the floor of the Capitol cleaning up after Jan. 6, for gosh sakes. I donated and postcarded for him.

A boycott of all nominations and of all Republican legislation sounds very necessary, and right now.

I'm feeling angry and sad at the amount of chaos and hurt, 34-time-Felon Trump's actions will cause children, the sick, the elderly, and folks in need.

Moms Rising also shared this petition and call script you can use: https://actionnetwork.org/call_campaigns/stop-trumps-devastating-illegal-funding-freeze/?source=aap.trump-illegal-funding-freeze&akid=20535.3525029.gq42zr&action_id=29618830

I made my calls and signed the petitions. I don't know how much it will help but if enough folks do this, our electeds will at least be reminded WHO they are accountable for as well.

"Trump’s EO is a mean-spirited, capricious, and pernicious attack on the most vulnerable everywhere—all to pay for tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans." Also vicious and likely a puppet of some other entity, not supernatural.

Been doing as much homework as I can. Thank you, Jessica.
