I think we need to reward good behavior. I’m going to be calling senators, Collins, Murkowski, and McConnell to thank them for their vote against Hegseth, and encourage them to continue to take their advise and consent role seriously.

I know there's lots to be concerned about right now but the firing of the IGs Friday night should not be allowed. I added a note to my Senator that I want to see the Senate enforcing the law on this one.

Just enjoyed sending DOGE the full lyrics to "Whoopee ti yi yo, git along, little dogies."

Thanks for an excuse to do something a bit creative and fun in the midst of all the other necessary and serious activism.

I’ve called my senators about the three nominees that have hearings this week. Earlier today, i sent emails to both of them expressing my growing frustration about uh r lack of urgency from our Democrat MOC on pushing back against Trump. My husband is a federal worker so we are really going through it right now.

Jess - I’d love to see a call to action about the lack of urgency. A resolution about pardons? Okay, I guess. But I don’t think that’s what republicans would be doing with their time. I feel we all need contact our Democrat MOC to voice our concerns and frustrations about the lack of response. I feel they need to ask themselves “What would republicans do?” And act appropriately.

Good news! NVIDIA, run by Sam Altman, billionaire and Trump sycophant, lost $600 BILLION on the market today, as a Chinese company, DeepSeek, released FOR FREE, an AI platform that performs as well as the US ones, using much cheaper chips, and WAY less energy. Maybe all those AI billionaires are stupid, or maybe they have been lying about the real costs.

Here is another great immigration group to donate to: https://www.blackimmigrantsbailfund.com/ It helps get black immigrants out of ICE detention who are only there because they can’t pay their bond.

One thing House Dems might try now is to launch an impeachment hearing to investigate a number of Trump's unconstitutional Exec Orders. Of course it would never go forward in the GOP house but it would put a pushing back stake in the ground! We can all write to our Dem reps to get on it.

👉🏾Name change since birth?

👉🏾No passport?

👉🏾Birth certificate lost in storm or fire?

❌Too bad. No vote.

➡️SAVE Act, H.R. 22, would do nothing to safeguard our elections, but it would make it much harder for all eligible Americans to register to vote and increase the risk that eligible voters are purged from voter rolls.❌🙅🏻‍♀️

➡️American Confidence in Elections Act (ACE Act). This bill would also further strip the rights of District of Columbia residents, who already lack full representation in Congress.

Call Congress today (and every day) to urge rejection of these voter suppression bills. 202/224-3121

Urge your friends to call their representatives, too!

Intrepid Durhamite Mindy O. wrote a post today about contacting Senator Schumer & Congressman Jeffries. See: https://substack.com/@mindyoshrainmd/note/c-88903398.

She provide as short sample script: “I am a Democrat who supports Democrats with my actions and my money. It is time for Democratic leadership to speak out against the current administration’s anti-democratic actions They are endangering our lives, our planet and our democracy Please get LOUD and unified in opposition.”

I called my Congressperson, Valerie Foushee - anyone in the southeast can call her too; she's Regional Whip ... serving Region 7, which includes North Carolina, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, and the Virgin Islands.” (from her website).

I called the three of them and turned into a postcard for all of them as well (I just posted that on my Substack).

They are also endangering our republic. We need our republic, defined as the rule of law, to enable us to maintain our messy democracy. In our republic even Presidents are subject to the law, so Trump is focused on destroying our republic while we focus on the feint of destroying our democracy. Love Doc. I have started making these phone calls to my senators and house representatives. It makes me feel empowered and grateful to be having your guidance but also didn’t have specific things to be saying. I also left emails on all of those DEI websites. That made me happy to be able to start being a participant and filling those emails up. Thank you for your guidance.

It's been a long time since I've contacted my elected representatives, but did today regarding these totally unqualified nominees for FBI, DNI and HHS. It's reminiscent of Caligula wanting to make his horse a consul in the Roman Senate.

I called Sen. Cornyn and read the script. He is supposed to be a smart law and order believer but a Trump follower in his vote for Hegseth! We’ll see what he does with the others.

I called my Senators, Booker and Kim, today. Thanked them for their votes on Laken Riley and Hegseth, but my wonderful former Congressman Kim voted yes on Noem. I had to tell a very bored-sounding assistant that I was disappointed in him. Probably for the first time since he’s represented me. Then urged them to vote no on the upcoming parade of horribles. But it bothers me to see even great Senators like these two sort of go along with the fiction that ANY of these people are qualified.
