Thrilled you are going to the White House.

But, again, I must say thank for the scripts you provide. You intend them to be phone calls, but I modify and change them to Resistbot messages. (I already sent today’s message the UHC assassination and Medicare for All.). Your scripts made it fast and easy to pummel my red state Senators. You make activism for one little elderly citizen easy!

I'm so thrilled, Suzanne. Thank you!

Hey Jess. I applaud your trip to the White House. Please take me/us with you when you go. I want to much to thank ALL OF THOSE GUYS/GALS there! It has been an amazing 4 years. And there will be more down the line I'm sure. Say a special Merry Christmas to that lovable Joe Biden. I will miss him and Kamala. But he needs to take a break, and feel good about his whole life. I'm sure, like Jimmy Carter, he will NOT rest, but will spend the remainder of his life doing good for the American people. Thanks for going. Take care of yourself! Don't get Flu, COVID or Pneumonia! IT's crazy out there again.

Getting my COVID booster tomorrow, in fact. Got my flu shot two weeks ago. Fingers crossed. And thanks!

You’ll be A-okay. Smart to do two weeks apart. Just what my doctor advise and all was good. Had a smart

Nurse that had me keeping moving my arm afterward and some icing and the site pain was almost nill.

Arnica gel also helps relieve the pain at the injection site.

Thanks for the Jimmy Carter shout out, Kate!

Jessica, you provide some great resources here. I am also working on a dedicated resources section for Gonzo Report which is going to be pretty massive once it’s done. I’ll be sure to let you know about it when I finally launch it!

Please do! Thanks!

I called Andy Biggs office spoke to an intern. He didn’t have an answer for me as to whether representative Biggs agrees with cutting Social Security and Medicare and he said that everyone was in a meeting and he’ll have someone call me back. I know the answer. … update I got a callback from someone in his office and she said that congressman Biggs does not support the continuing resolutions that we have to do something about the bloated budget and I said well definitely we need to tax corporations and billionaires because they’re not paying their fair share and then I don’t know she said something about immigrants getting you know money and hotels and services and then I said but wait DeSantis spent his state tax dollars on shipping them to New York. I mean we got into an argument about immigrants and we did agree on comprehensive immigration reform but wow, that was a crazy conversation.!!

35 y.o. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is running against 74 year old Gerald Connolly (who has esophageal cancer, BTW) for the minority leader of the House Oversight Committee. She is certainly controversial, and her stance on Gaza has been heavily criticized by pro-Israel advocates. BUT, she is a great communicator, and connects with parts of the population that are skeptical of Democrats. I suggest that some of us might want to lobby our Congress people to support her. (I'm 74, too. I think a major problem with the Democratic Party is that it is still controlled by the old crowd, who have not done well at finding alternate means of selling Democratic accomplishment. Democratic Communication is broken. The Old Guard won't fix it.

Didn't I put a call script about this in today' newsletter? (:

Expand full comment

I don't see it. Maybe I'm blind, like 74 year olds.

Expand full comment

It's in the Call your House Rep section.

Yep, blind. Well, good: let's do it. In with the new. I work as a volunteer EMT with a group of others mostly in their 20s and early 30s -- meaning some are less than a third of my age. It's refreshing.

On second thought I’m going to reword the script when I call Andy Biggs‘s office to include that I am urging to not support Trump‘s tax cuts and leave out the part about voting him out because we are so gerrymandered in AZCD5

Urgent action is needed on #Telehealth/#Telemedicine, in addition to Medicare for all. It will expire in 3 weeks, DEC 31, if Congress doesn't get it together. Please contact your congressional representatives to pass this telehealth bill, and see my post on it today:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/judystone/2024/12/06/telehealth-will-die-in-3-weeks-without-congressional-action/

You can contact your House representatives at https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative and Senators at https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm

Please post an urgent call to action for this, too, Jessica--and thanks for all you do.

Thanks, Jess, for being the voice of reason and calm. I am so glad that you are still in this fight!

Enjoy your trip to the White House. You deserve it!

I made my phone calls to my senators. I can’t get myself to call representative Andy Biggs in CDAZ5 for this action. I just don’t have it in me today. We have tried to vote him out and by saying we will vote him out if he supports trumps tax cuts I just feel like the staff members will just snicker and laugh at me and I feel like I’m gonna be put on some kind of crazy watchlist in Arizona.

Well I’m going to be on the same in Texas. At least someone inCornyn’s office replies to my emails. Cruz is probably vacationing.

It saddens me to say this, and I could be wrong, but I believe that a lot of the gloating and celebrating of the murder is more about virtue signaling than about genuine rage toward our horrendous health care system. It's pretending to care rather than actually caring. How many of the gloaters have been actively involved in efforts to pass Medicare for All or some other system that would take profiteering out of the equation?

Expand full comment

Well, I think the people gloating DO hate the healthcare system that much. Whether or not they have advocated actively for something better? A different question.

Safe journey to the White House. If you have the opportunity, please ask the President to name someone to fill Caroline Crenshaw's SEC Commission seat. I believe that her term expired in June 2024. She can serve up to 18 months until her replacement is named or she is reappointed.

Please urge President Biden to fill the open seat on the SEC that resulted from the expiration of Cariline Crenshaws term in June 2024. She can serve 18 months if not replaced I see no indication that this seat is in the process of being filled. Trump must fill it with a Democratbut……

I've been trying to email Senator Thune and my 2 Democratic senators this morning with my regular emails regarding the unfitness of trump's cabinet and agency nominees. Today all 3 say the websites are unavailable due to maintenance. I'm wondering if the internet response is so overwhelming that it's bringing the senators' websites down. I certainly hope so. I've been wtiting to my senators for years about environmental issues, and this is the first time their websites have been down.🤔

Jessica, In reference to the recent murder of the health insurance CEO, you write today in the resistbot section: “The author Joyce Carol Oates wrote yesterday that the outpouring of negativity “is better described as cries from the heart of a deeply wounded & betrayed country; hundreds of thousands of Americans shamelessly exploited..”. We may do well to imagine that this was also what the great swath of stay-at-home-voters did this November 5th. I imagine this is the sentiment ( I’m sick and tired of being exploited! ) that maga lies enhance also. We are nothing else if not a “deeply wounded and betrayed country”.

Do take copious notes on your visit to the White House. What a great treat. Soak it up!4 and

You might suggest that people read Heather Cox Richardson for Dec 5 on our uneven playing field economically, the murder and the health care situation and the similarity to Tammany Hall and the Fisk murder.

I assume the PT is for the shoulder? Good for you.
