Ruben Gallego is not going up against Sinema--he'll be going up against Sinema (if she runs) AND a Republican candidate, most likely Kari Lake. It will be a tough 3 way race.

It will, and i understand that. But I'm convinced we can beat her even under those circumstances. Again, I think she'll pull as many republican votes as she will Democratic.

I hope you’re right. For me, “way less of a concern” is still too much of a concern when control of the Senate is at stake. Feels like playing with fire.

Thank you for all you do! I wanted to simply comment that it's Newtown Alliance - many people get the town name mixed up with the MA town Newton, but it's Newtown (with 2 "w's" in the name). Thanks!

Oh jeez. Thank you!! Of course!

It happens *all* the time - I figured you’d want to have the right organization name - it’s why I always spell the name of the town whenever I’m calling someplace or when they’re verifying my address on the phone because people automatically read it (and hear it) as “Newton”, because that is a much more well-known town, (except for one terrible reason).

How disappointing to see Cortes-Masto, John Fetterman and Mark Kelley on the list not supporting Diane Feinstein. We just elected them bec we believed they knew the right path.

From what I'm hearing Fetterman should sign on and only hasn't yet because he wasn't in Washington and you have to be physically there to co-sponsor for some arcane reason. The others, though, yeah, are disappointing.

I know! I was shocked to see that Mark Kelly hasn’t signed on as co-sponsors to the Assault Weapons Ban bill. I wonder why....

Regarding Ruben Gallego's run for Senate, am I the only one concerned about him splitting the Democratic vote and opening the door to another Republican in the Senate? Yes, I know – Sinema will be running as an Independent. But that still creates a 3-way race with the likelihood that Sinema will draw Democratic votes away from Gallego, not the Republican.

I think Sinema polls so poorly that it's way less of a concern than it would be normally. She's wildly unpopular in the state. She's so far right she's just as likely to siphon votes off of the Republican.

I took you up on your Extra Extra credit. I emailed my entire city council + mayor, and sent a copy to the chief of police as well, urging them to ask him to add his name to the list of police chiefs who ask for an assault weapons ban.

Thank you for EVERYthing that you do! You keep me inspired.

You are always so greatly sourced, Jess (thank you).

Is there anything we can all do about the impending White House Chief of Staff appointment to make our voices heard?? After reading this critical takedown by TCinLA, Zients is the right person to undo a lot of our hard work and nothing else. Ugh. :-(

Oh no really? Ugh! I'm not sure there's much we can do to change it at this point but if I hear of anything I'll be sure to put it in the newsletter.

Regarding the uncertainty of Ruben Gallego's candidacy for Arizona Senator two years from now, and the threat of losing due to a three-way vote split, a contributor on Daily KOS submitted a novel notion -- Encourage President Biden to appoint the Sen Sinema to a choice Ambassadorship. Then -- get this -- Gov Katie Porter gets to appoint her replacement,, who must be from the same party that she was in when elected. Or at least so they are saying over on Daily KOS. Check it out: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/1/23/2148798/-AZ-Sen-Why-Wait-Ambassador-Sinema-Senator-Gallego-NOW

Yes I've heard that idea being batted around for awhile now, although I think you mean Governor Katie Hobbs? (: Either way, it's a great idea, if Sinema would accept the job.

Yes, thanks, Gov. Katie Hobbs was intended. Since when were there too many Katie's to keep straight? ....more power to em!
