Brilliant!!! Can I quote you? I want to make a meme to spread around. I'd show you but substack doesn't allow media. Would look like this in a text box meme.
I got so mad at my husband this morning!! He told me that the phone call i made to john thune this morning didn't make a difference because we're in south carolina. Needless to say i set him straight!!!! Lol. He's a Democrat and a smart guy but he's totally wrong that my phone call won't matter.
I call senators all the time. Let's me get my frustrations out in a constructive way. Read Jessica craven. "Chop wood, carry water" articles on substack. She'll post scripts and contact numbers for senators and congress. It helps me!!!
Thanks Jess for turning us into effective advocates and influencers. My two IL senators originally voted yes on Laken Riley but did a turn around and voted no. I know it’s because of comments from their constituents, including me. So empowering, even if Act did pass the Senate.
I'd love to go to the Mother Jones zoom tonight, but am attending my local Democrat club meeting. Do you know if it will be recorded? I signed up for the Effective Advocate call. I'm a defacto leader of our neighborhood "Blue Dot" club (We are in MD, but live in the old red district represented by Freedom Caucus Chair Andy Harris). And am looking for all sources of information to help get organized.
Just thinking about immigrants reminded me to share Brian Bilston's poem REFUGEES. You might be familiar with it, but if not you can read it on his site. (https://brianbilston.com/2016/03/23/refugees/) I find it very powerful and have been sharing it with as many people as possible.
We need to get the Nebraska voters to come out strong to protect our Blue Dot! It is a pretty hopeless venture to call and write to our legislators (State and Federal) in this red backwater. I’ve done both and also signed many petitions. Today’s local paper was just pages of the maga spew against President Biden and “spasms of rhetoric” (thank you Jen Ruben) for all things in the new reich. The Nebraska legislature is trying to make Nebraska a winner-take-all state (as Lindsay Graham was supporting here just prior to the last election). If Omaha loses its Blue Dot status, they will have as little voting voice as the rest of us mired in the out-state maga-verse.
So basically the guy that whines the most about Mexico emptying their jails into the United States just emptied our jails into the United States.
About sums it up. Yep.

Explain please! I've been feeling so frustrated that I live in DC and have no one to call!!

Can you contact your Congresswoman to thank her for her votes
Sure!!!!

Support is needed for a critical WI state Supreme Court election on April 1, 2025.

Much appreciated! We need to maintain the balance on the WI Supreme Court to protect reproductive rights and continue to address gerrymandering.
I've ordered postcards to send to WI voters from MD. I'll look to see what other opportunities there are to get involved.
Thanks for your continued guidance!

Jess- signed up for the event today but am cutting it close from another - will it be taped? (if you know)
Will the audio segment be re-introduced??

Jessica is amazing. Thank you for your reporting.
