Stay safe. I have two children that were evacuated from Topanga Canyon. So far, and miraculously their houses stand. They have Survivors Guilt because so many of their friends lost everything.
Judge Cannon - I just can't with her. Whatever. She has zero jurisdiction. Should not be doing ANYTHING - good, bad, indifferent - re: these cases. The eleventh circuit should have slapped her down completely ages ago. Auditioning for the Supreme Court and she'll probably end up there, the height of incompetence and lack of experiene.
Anyway, I am so thankful to Jess for keeping us informed and motivated. I truly don't know how she does it, ESPECIALLY NOW living in L.A. as she does.

The anger I feel toward Trump & the entire elected GOP (they are a collective obscenity) and right-wing media is like nothing I've ever felt. I am just full of R-A-G-E. It is not healthy. I feel like I literally need a doctor to help me out of it.
Every time I look at my TV screen or phone or read anything I experience real hatred toward people who politicize and lie about this climate-fueled tragedy. The blame. The finger-pointing. The ignorance. The hatefullness. I can't anymore. The firefighters and elected officials are working tirelessly to make things better. That much is clear.
And then tonight I turn on the news and hear Mike Johnson, the boy-speaker, say there might be "conditions" on federal assistance - Republicans might attach TRUMP's DEMAND TO REMOVE THE DEBT CEILING to California's "must-pass" relief bill. Oh, cool. great position to put the Dems in (which is the cruel point of course).
If I lived in California I would not EVER send one PENNY of my tax dollars to the red states. The TAKER states. California is the fifth largest economy in he world - - -they have to go begging from these red-state elected officials? ! ? It's disgusting.
Protesting and suing fossil fuel companies won't do any good until everybody stops using their products. That is easier said than done. I'm not a climate denier either - planetary overshoot is my obsession. We just have to be realistic about the amount of effort it will take from each and every one of us to eliminate fossils from our lives. Next time you get on a plane, think about the flames in California.
Just think, the losses & destruction of this Californian fire equals only one day of Israeli-USA bombing of Gaza. So far 100 kilotons of TNT / 4 Nagasaki bombs. Sorry for your losses.
Thank you so much, Jessica, for the excellent news that Jen Rubin left the Washington Post and, with a whole cast of democracy-supporting journalists - with many more to join! - went off and started Contrarion. I immediately subscribed, and then cancelled WaPo (tho it's an annual membership, so no $$ back but I made an, albeit small, point of saying I left being unhappy with their content. While I read/support several of the writers already, others are new to me. I'm so pleased they're not putting up with the kowtowing by Bezos to the convicted felon. And thanks for making it so easy to contact our Senators (mine in MN are Dem) and my (dolt) of a Repub Representative. Nice how it re-enforced my phone calls to my Senators: This afternoon I called to thank you (Amy, for your work on the Senate Judiciary Committee, placing excellent and diverse judges on the Federal bench, 1/4 of the total numbers of judges. Excellent press conference. Tina, for your outstanding letter replying back on Right to Contraception Act.) And to ask you both to strongly fight the horrific cabinet and "leadership" nominations, especially Hegseth for Dept of Defense, Vought for CBO - using the public's intense dislike of Project 2025. And to reject Patel for FBI - not over our dead bodies either.
Now I am writing to urge you to stand up for the fundamental right to vote and reject two bills that threaten our democracy: the American Confidence in Elections Act (ACE Act) and the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act)......
The fact that Judge Cannon had zero authority to make any ruling on the election interference case should not escape attention.
