Beyond just being a “necessary” discussion. Rather, “vital” is a word that comes close to a proper descriptor.

I could toss in phrases like “You rock!” (Actually, you do, and...) Or, “Good story, wanna go shoot billiards?”

You’ve provided me ways to communicate with Congress, local governments, MSM, and so many more.

It is incumbent on us, your readers and followers, to vamoose! Every day counts. Starting these efforts now will help build needed momentum.

Thank you, Jessica, for all your daily positive offerings. They have made me feel better and I feel like I am doing something towards helping our country by following some of your suggestions. Not that text savvy, I do not understand how the Resistbot works. Where could I go for a more rudimentary step-by-step than the link you provided? Thank you!

Sorry i forgot to include the code today. It's SIGN PNBNXK. So if you text that to 50409 Resistbot will walk you through the set up steps and then you'll be able to send letters every day! I also highly recommend their website, which tells you how to use the bot. https://resist.bot/

WOW! What an excellent review of early American history. Founding Brothers - The Revolutionary Generation. Reminds me of the definitions of Communism, whether it was reformist or revolutionary. The basic reason for Anti-Communism was the early adoption of the mantra that communists be committed to the violent overthrow of any government that was NOT communist. Lenin, Stalin, et al. I am guessing that Ben Franklin failed to rid USA of slavery because he had no way to pay for the slaves and then free them and also buy up the market places and outlaw the practice???? Will have to read Founding Brothers to see how this plays into my wish we had bought the slaves rather that taking them at the point of a gun and freeing them into poverty and enhanced hostility as in "Every War Is An UnCivil War" amazon kindle or paperback.

Yeah there did seem to be a quandary about how to compensate the slave owners than no one could figure out. But it was also, of course, the slave owners claiming they wouldn't be able to succeed in business without free labor. Bah.

Failed vision about the business model; thanks for the reminder of how that contributed to our failure to transition in a peaceful and economically sound and Constitutional manner. My older cousin postulated that our great great grandfather moved from St. Eustacius to New Orleans when slavery was outlawed in the Caribbean. The mindset may have been too ingrained. A new edition may be in order. "Every War Is An UnCivil War" tries to apply hindsight to foresight!!

Indeed that is a great book and a stark reminder that there will always be some people who assume they are better than others, that they deserve more than others and that they have the right to control those others through policies, legislation and/or persuasion and when those things don't work, coercion. Human beings can be both aggressive and cooperative toward other human beings. But it takes something extra to also seek to create a system that is truly fair for all, even if there is a cost to the seeker. It does seem that there a many of us who don't or can't go beyond the self serving and greed that represents the basest in all of us.

Don't forget to keep pressure on the media to present Trump as he is, a fascist, not as a normal candidate following the rules. I just submitted this to the New York Times, knowing it won't get published:

I just had a letter published, so I know this is not going into the newspaper, but I was compelled to write it anyway. Please forward this to the entire Editorial Board, the News Department and the Publisher. This is an organization-wide issue.

In light of the recent NYT editorial thoroughly excoriating Donald Trump, with good reason, and pointing out the unique danger he poses to our entire form of government, it is terribly disheartening to see the NYT front page today. The top story shows a smiling Trump and a crew of joyous, worshipful fans, with a headline that includes the word "love", followed by a headline about President Biden just below it, with no adoring fan photo, that includes the word "fretting."

It is journalistic insanity to simultaneously normalize cult worship of Trump and instill doubt about Biden, all in the service of popular horse race speculation.

This is not a normal campaign, and everything the NYT does to make it seem like it is will contribute to the loss of democracy in favor of a dictatorship under an immature, ignorant, cruel narcissist with a fragile ego and no impulse control, whose only concerns are domination, his brand and his wealth.

That's a good letter! To what email address did you send it?

Thanks for the shout-out, Jessica.

I sent it to: letters@nytimescom

That is the email for Letters to the Editor at the NYT.

As you saw, I was trying to get it forwarded to all the departments, since this misguided click-hunting that still drives the headlines and photographs comes across as oblivious to the well-known fact that Trump got $billions in free campaign advertising in 2016, somewhat less in 2020, but still a lot. It's shameful.

The classical music station, KDFC , broadcasts it live from the Met every Saturday morning. KDFC has a great app so you can listen to it wherever you are. I think next week is Carmen😊❤️

Writing lots is postcards for Tom Suozzi which need to be in the mail by Monday. Heads down and doing what can be done. Listening to The Met’s live broadcast of La Boheme while I write which helps. Studiously tuning out the news which helps as well.

When I simply want to say "thank you" for a "like", I don't find a way. Is the thank you not currently appropriate? Maybe thank you is just assumed?
