I’m in the New York district that boasted Anthony Delgado before Kathy Hochel whisked him away, we got redistributed and went red, sob. I just don’t know how to cope with all the lovely neighbors here who couldn’t be budged on red, but make up our entire volunteer fire department and EMS service. It makes my head spin and yes, I feel guilty. Why won’t they listen to reason?

Jess- we weren’t expected to win at all- lose in fact! I know it is close and painful but we have an army of engaged people ready to keep going and make the changes we can. Postcards are in hand, just got off the phone with the congresspeople and sent my resistbot. Texting is on deck for tomorrow and if not for class tonight would be on some of the other amazing programs we have at the ready. YOU have helped with getting us all on board and we are in your debt. We also must learn the would’ve and should’ve of this event but we did amazing work! I admire Nancy Pelosi so much for making her decision- I am sure she did it “for the good of the country “ though I imagine it was a very difficult one to make. Hang in there! We are chopping wood and carrying water... 😘

Jessica, you did amazing! Personally, I take heart in that despite all the money thrown against our progressive candidates during the midterms, they were still able to win some seats, an absolutely impressive accomplishment, and that John Fetterman who doesn’t necessarily identify himself as progressive also won. We are gaining each and every election, as a progressive blue wave continues to build. Unfortunately, due to redistricting here in NorCal, I will now a have a Republican congressional representative, but on the other hand it appears we may also have flipped our State Assembly representative from a Republican to a Democrat! In any case, I can assure you that my new Republican congressional representative will be hearing from me frequently in large part due to your continued support.

Now back to work on the Georigia runoff!

It touches my heart that you could possibly feel you should have done more!! You created and provided an essential grassroots tool for a whole party that had a lot to learn about grassroots. At my age (77) I've had to admit that it's taken me quite a while to learn to "give of my abundance, not of my essence." Abundance can be replenished - essence includes the root for "essential" which needs to be safeguarded and nourished.

We must learn to take care of ourselves so that we can be present for as many needs as possible that we are called to fill....but not more than that. Of course in an emergency - mothers can lift cars off of their wounded child. But we must be very careful not to turn the long-term goals into long-term crises. We chop wood and carry water. We do not burn wood and boil water. We take breaks when we need to - and we go on, inspired by our leaders such as you. Love and blessings, Terry
