We’re hosting a dinner party tomorrow evening for six couples we know who are still undecided (hard to believe I know 12 undecided voters). Hoping I can persuade them to vote for Harris/Waltz and all democrats down ballot. Thanks for keeping us sane in these troubled times.
Ask them what is important to them, connect with them, then inform them about the differences in the parties and candidates and why voting dem is important to you. Most undecideds I've run across feel like they don't know enough about "politics" but know what is in their heart. Unless they are secret MAGA voters afraid to admit it.
Hi. Just in case this is a Jewish group— I’ve been using the JDCA’s talking points on Israel and antisemitism. Has been very useful for my undecided (!) friends. Also the Abe foxman op ed.
I'm flying tonight to NC too, to get out the vote in Mecklenburg County, where my sister was born and my father was raised. Staying through the election. Hope to see you, Jess! Fired up!
I've been reading for a while but never commented before, thanks for all you do, you inspire me so much! I'm canvassing tomorrow for Janelle Bynum and phone banking with SURJ on Sunday! Let's go!
I canceled both my WaPo and Amazon Prime subscriptions this week, and I publicly post on SM as often as possible.
Unfortunately, due to medical issues I can't do more right now but appreciate you SO MUCH Jessica, and all the other warriors out there! Love and strength to carry on to all!
You will find the anticipation is the hardest part - once you have made a free calls you'll see it's easy. Just remember everyone you're calling wants at least some of the same things you do, just find some personal connection and start from there.
Jess you are amazing. Thank you for inspiring all of us. Tomorrow Im canvassing for Shomari Figures in AL’s newly redrawn CD-02 (hoping his name will be familiar to all of us soon!) And I will see you in Mecklenburg on Sunday!!!!! Go team go!!!
I’m canvassing in Durham on Saturday, in Granville County NC on Sunday for Bryan Cohn & Terence Everitt, and again on Tuesday in Durham. Plus poll greeting in Durham.
I’m writing out a bunch of post-it notes tonight! Great idea!
In light of the issue of newspaper endorsements I’d like to share the link to Art Cullen’s Substack post. He and his family own the Storm Lakes Times Pilot in Storm Lake, Iowa. It may be a small town newspaper, but it’s also a Pulitzer Prize winner newspaper. The Washington Post and LA Times could learn a thing or two .
Got back today from poll greeting in Alamance County NC in the morning, where we shared slates of Dem candidates and ensured no down ballot drop off...then canvassed in Section 8 housing in Durham NC in the afternoon, met one man sitting in his car who had just gotten home from work sent him off to vote early by using an app that showed a nearby early voting location with no wait time. So he drove off on his own. Then we ran into another young woman who had tried to vote for the first time and didn’t have a photo ID and they turned her away rather than giving her an exception form. so we drove she and her mother over to the board of elections to get her a photo ID. Then it turned out her name was wrong on her registration so they were able to fix that and get her correct photo ID and she and her mother voted for the first time. (And yes we were all crying and laughing) Then there was another woman who came up and was trying to vote and didn’t know that you needed a photo ID so we sent her over to the board of elections which was closing in about 20 minutes and she got her photo ID and came back out and said to us, "This Puerto Rican is voting to get rid of Mr. T" And finally, within the same span of a couple of hours, we saw a woman leaving the polling place because of the line. She said she wasn't feeling well enough to wait and would come back tomorrow. I suggested that she could use the curbside voting since she wasn't feeling well, and she did and voted then and there. Altogether a very satisfying day. And we'll do it again tomorrow, the final day of early voting here in NC. Then knock doors and make calls Sunday and Monday, then go out and knock all doors on Tuesday!
Saturday we have a gang going to the Carolina Brewery oyster roast during the UNC v FSU football game to eat oysters, drink beer, and chant Dump Trump. Dump Trump.
My 2 nieces and I are hopping on a a bus in CT and traveling to PA to canvass. I’m ballot curing o. Sunday and Monday and last minute canvassing on Tuesday.

Wow, Mary! All the best to you, Jess, Robert, and Jill! And the good folks in Mecklenburg County!
When I go out for a walk I take a piece of chalk with me and stop once in awhile and write on the sidewalk "Voted yet?"
That is the best!
