You are a powerhouse of information and guidance right down to what to say in our calls and e-mails! Thank you, Jess! Love the T-shirt …can I bravely wear it for pickleball etc and hold my own if they’re any trumpers/repubs around? 🤔 thinking we must do the thing we are afraid of…and I’m afraid of a possible dictator…so yes I will try!

I think it's wroth trying. They have no compunction about wearing THEIR merch.

I would modify the message.

I don't believe that we can return to normalcy...those were the preconditions that led to Trumpism.

The best scenario is to steady the political and societal spiral so that new people with fresh ideas can work towards a better future.

I generally appreciate every recommendation you make whether I always follow it or not. I do have a major aversion to encouraging people to purchase merch because merch uses valuable resources. Even if it’s organic and responsibly made, it’s still uses resources to ship the shirt, etc. I really wish we could get creative and findbetter more environmental ways to get messages out. I can’t say I have the answer but I at least want to always pose the question. Once I help coordinate a fundraiser for which we bought used shirts from our local version of Goodwill and added our message. That used resources too but fewer.

Oh believe me, I do NOT like tee shirts or any other kind of "merch" or swag and actually turned down my free version of the shirt in question because I simply won't wear it AND the world has too many tee shirts. Having said that, since many people DO wear tees and because the money is going to a good cause and because I like the message on these shirts a lot I made an exception. (:

Thank you so much again for a great newsletter. I was very glad to see your extra credit action today and emailed both Michael Regan and John Kerry. As a mother and grandmother, climate is a top issue for me and I appreciate all your advocacy.

I also contacted my senators on both issues you included today. Rather than phoning, I prefer to put "contact Senator Schumer" or "contact Senator Gillibrand into my phone. I get a simple form to fill in and, after the first time I did it, my identifying information appears automatically . That might work for others. And I am very excited about getting my new Dems Make Life Better t-shirt!

Yes, that's a great way to reach our reps. Excellent for the phone shy. And if you're into climate action do check out the app. It's outstanding!

Democracy is hard. Elections; staggered at different levels of government; terms; term limits for President; independent judiciary; honest voting and vote counting; a House and a Senate. Who pays for what? Campaign rules. Nominations. Avoiding corruption. Who feeds at the public treasury? Who pays taxes? We are all susceptible and responsible. Most of this is determined by history and tradition. Trump will flagrantly disregard both for his own aggrandisement. Both parties have done so from time to time. Beware. We need a Biden victory of the size of Reagan in 1984.

Yes we do. No doubt about it.

FYI: because I’m furious that patriotism has been usurped by the magat crowd, I’m starting my own little campaign to take back patriotism from the magats. I’ve ordered rolls of flag stickers to hand out everywhere and to everyone. Because I don’t have other stickers that say this, I say: “As President Biden says, ‘Patriotism is a sacred cause’.”

Love that.

... and I’ve put these postage stamp stickers on my purse, my coat, and my car. They are subtle -- not obnoxious. But those who know me know what I’m doing. The ones who don’t will learn if they talk to me. It’s an opportunity to educate folks to the fact that we all care about democracy!!

and don't forget to care also about our republic. Takes a strong republic, rule of law, to support messy democracy. Just because republic sounds like Republican, we can't neglect the importance to democracy. We must recognize the danger Trump threatens to our republic that may allow him to destroy our democracy. His violence is physically threatening. He prefers to govern by fear at the end of a gun. Putin, Stalin, Lenin, Hitler.

First, I called my Senators and Representative yesterday to share our messages about the budget "negotiations" etc. It is good to get back in the saddle after the new year!

Second, I watched part of the silly charade (i.e. Oversight Committee meeting) on the Hill yesterday. Not only was this entire debacle ridiculous, it shows the entire world that the American legislative "leadership" is doing Trumputin's work -- AKA intentionally nothing. I sincerely believe the R's ultimate goal is to DO NOTHING, which everyone in marketing knows is actually "doing something." These traitors are running the Trumputin playbook. We must hold ALL of the anti-democracy complicit R's accountable at the ballot box in November; CLEAN THE SLATE!

They definitely want to end government as we know it. Scary (and motivating) indeed.

From the eternal Optimist to help you sleep at night without drugs. Just remember the number 81 Million!!!

Trump is a loser in all aspects of his life. He exemplifies the first part of the Twainism "You can fool some of the people some of the time...." and in Trump's case "some of the people" is getting to be fewer and fewer.

......

IMO, the most salient point for us to focus on is the hugh loss the Trump suffered in 2020.

Joe Biden got 81 million votes, Trump got 74 million votes.

........

So what are the real chances Trump can reverse this outcome in 2024? I would say they are ZERO!!!

......

Disregarding minimally predictive polls as fantasy journalism, let's think about the 160 million likely voters in 2024. Can anyone in this newsletter describe a significant voter shift from Biden to Trump?

.........

Does anyone know voters who are so alarmed about Biden's age or his Middle East policy they'll either vote for Trump or not vote for Biden? I don't. Many voters are concerned about these issues but that concern won't drive them to Trump.

..........

On the other hand, can anyone describe where Biden is likely to pickup a lot (millions) of votes? Consider these:

..........

How do we think new young (18-25) voters will vote?

...........

Which way will the majority of America's 30-35% of voters who register as Independents vote?

........

How will the Never Trumpers vote?

.........

How many extra Biden votes will grassroots actions just like those Jess is recommending every dsy, drive home for Biden?

......

Across these areas, Biden has the potential to pickup 8-12 million votes. Trump maybe 2-3 million.

.......

My next questions are about lost votes. Which candidate will lose more voters to natural mortality? (The GOP)

.......

Which candiddate will lose more voters because they're repelled by both candidates and sit out 2024? (The Donald)

.......

From where we sit now, we should be jumping for joy and speaking with great confidence about Biden's prospects in 2024; not just to win, but win in a LANDSLIDE with 88-90 million votes!!

Too many of us are still traumatized by the 2016 Hillary/Trump debacle. For so many, many reasons, 2024 will not be a redux of 2016.

LOVE THIS!

Beware complacency and "stay at home". Hillary did not expect to lose either in 2016. Trump did not expect to win, all his bluster not withstanding. Did opposition research last night and watched the Trump "Town Hall". He handled it smoothly. If that message is repeated often enough, many people will believe it. Even lies like "No Wars During MY Administration". Afghanistan does not count, even setting us up to leave billions of dollars of infrastructure and weapons for the Taliban, for which President Biden takes the blame. It is easy for Trump to claim there would have been no war in Ukraine IF HE HAD BEEN PRESIDENT>

Much of Biden's votes in 2024 will be AGAINST Trump. Love, Doc

I agree that Hillary's loss was due to a lack of activism, especially in the battleground states. I don't think anyone will be over confident in 2024, sit back and wait for the results to roll in. I think millions of Democrats will be working to the last minute to flip every local and national race we can and give Joe Biden the landslide we deserve
