Your introduction really resonated with me today and made me think of this tweet by Ami Dar last night: https://x.com/AmiDar/status/1744913659636109655?s=20 "I’m 63 now, I’ve been a news junkie since I was 8, and I this is the most chaotic global moment I can remember. A sense of things spinning out of control, no one in charge, thugs operating with impunity, and all elites out of touch. It’s on us. The cavalry is not coming." I am 63 so it REALLY resonated with me. But your introduction addressed how many of us are feeling and reminded us of the importance of resolve. Thanks.

That's a great quote. And yeah, the cavalry isn't coming--except for us. Thank God we are up to the challenge!

Right there with you.

Actually the cavalry started coming with "one woman, one child", the least aggressive national policy in human history. It has continued with birth rates below replacement in China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Australia, India, Pakistan, Iran, Russia, EU, UK, USA, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina. When this low birth rate applies to ALL tribes the chaotic pressures we apply to each other and our planet will ease and our passage from 8 to 63, or in my case to 88, will steadily ease. Try "Sex and the 21st Century: AR-W/(P-I) x ATroc = Q" on amazon kindle or paperback. Meanwhile we follow Jessie's RESOLVE to make the transition.

Yes, Jess, that about describes it. And you!

Hey Jess

Thanks so much for turning us on to Amplify.

Their highlights of Biden's accomplishments is great tool for recommending news topics to MSM outlets for stories they should be writing!!

And I gave $500 to MVP for matching pledge.

Right? Glad you got something out of the newsletter today, Kate. Thanks.

The incredible achievements of Democratic governors (particularly those with even the slimmest state legislative majorities) bolsters my faith in the future.

These achievements are a direct result of grassroots work and voter turnout.

However broken our federal system may be, collectively, we have an enormous impact at the state and local levels.

Supporting state and local races is how we protect and expand women's rights, LGBTQ rights,

public education, public health, etc.

Supporting unions and union activities is how we protect worker's rights, and how we chip away at income inequality.

Like all bottom-up movements, change happens slowly, then all at once.

That's right, Heather!

Since joining CWCW, I have not thought about what we are doing here as resolve. More, that I was "hunkering down" to get something done that needed doing. Nothing big or earth-shattering. Just a commitment to keep a finger in the dike for as long as it takes.

Glad you have discovered Amplify on Activate America. I started using their website sometime ago to get addresses for sending postcards, because they made it easier to join up.

Thanks for all, Jess!

Different words for the same thing, more or less. And yes, I'v known AA for a long time, and I even knew about Amplify, but I didn't know they weren't emailing out all of the new posts. So many more than I realized!

Yes, yes and yes! The number one reason I am so committed to fighting for our democracy is because of my children. I didn’t bring them into this world to abandon them now. AND the world has ALWAYS had people who want to unleash hate. And they always lose eventually.

Jess, I'm troubled by Tom Suozzi's cavalier attitude towards ethics; do you or Act Blue or MVP have any information to counter the narrative? Here's how he's portrayed and quoted in Wiki:

In 2021, the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center filed a formal ethics complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics alleging that Suozzi had failed to file the reports required by the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act of 2012 on approximately 300 different stock transactions with a value of $3.2 million to $11 million.[60][61] The STOCK Act requires members of Congress to report each of their trades valued over $1,000 to the House Ethics Committee within 45 days.[62] As a result, when Business Insider published its 2021 "Conflicted Congress" investigation of lawmakers' stock trades and financial holdings, Suozzi was one of only 13 lawmakers given a "Danger" rating.[63][64]

In 2022, it was reported that Suozzi failed to properly disclose another 31 stock transactions, worth as much as $885,000.[65] Two months later, it was reported for a third time that he had failed to properly disclose stock transactions he had made, this time 10 stock trades that in aggregate were between $171,000 and $515,000.[62]

When Suozzi came before congressional investigators to explain in a deposition why he had not disclosed hundreds of stock trades in a timely manner, he told investigators: "Quite frankly, we have a lot going on in Congress. I have a lot of other stuff going on. And it's just not—ethics is a big priority for me. But…the…some of the formalities are not necessarily something I make a priority of."[66]

We undercut all of our positions and candidates if we allow a double standard; and this is the 2nd Democrat with high-profile ethical problems, that could muddy the water in a gloves-off campaign.

Wow. Hadn't heard that, and I agree, it's deeply troubling. Look, Suozzi was a member of the Problem Solvers Caucus and I have no liking for anyone in that group. He's definitely not my kind of Democrat. I don't know why they chose him to run for this seat but he's the candidate, like it or not. I will forward your concerns to anyone I know on the campaign but even before I knew this my opinion of him was simply "he's not a Republican; he'll support reproductive freedom; he won't try to overturn the election. We should probably get him elected." Sadly a low bar, but there we are.

I agree, and last thing I want to do is oppose anyone flipping a red seat to blue - but it's important to be clear-eyed about who we're in bed with. Sometimes I have to remind myself that these are all politicians, not a class of people known for high ethical standards, even before the current bottom-feeders captured the former Republican party.

My source was Wiki - which could be wrong (not likely) or incomplete (more likely); I'm hoping someone has more information that might make this pill a little easier to swallow. I guess a low bar is better than no bar!

I guess it is. Realpolitik? Is that what they call it?

Suozzi won this district multiple times, which is apparently why he was chosen. He likely would have won in 2022 had he not retired to run for the gubernatorial race.

His Republican opponent is an Ethiopian Jew, who is a registered Democrat.

NY politics are beyond insane...

I agree. The state is a HOT MESS. And yeah, I guess Dems wanted someone they felt the district already liked. It's not the bluest of blue districts, so...

Thank you for inspiring me to donate to Voter Movement Project. And thank you for being so active in my stead in many campaign projects. I am at too high risk for in person activities and despite being "retired" and children grown and gone, my time vanishes with health care, ADL, reading email, including Chop Wood and Carry Water, and writing, a family gathering and "old farts" each once a week. Even no longer attend Rotary with 54 years of membership. Keep your RESOLVE! Love, Doc
