I dropped my first batch of postcards into the mail today. Seriously excited. Got another roll of stamps in the mail. Post office has been out of postcard stamps for weeks. Folks at my mother’s assisted living place have been writing letters. It’s all hands on deck!
At this very moment I am on a plane to Arizona. I am leading a group of 23 intrepid warriors from the Bay Area to go canvassing in Tucson for Kirsten Engel for Congress and Kevin Volk for State Assembly. Tomorrow we will be part of Congressman Raul Grijalva's knock 5,000 Doors in a Day canvass!
I will be staging a location to send out volunteers to register voters at high traffic areas around Durham, NC. We hung out at Duke Med School today and registered 35 in 3 hours! We are up to a total of over 400 for the past 5 weeks, and had thousands of conversations about voter ID, early voting, and voting the whole ballot. I've also got postcards to write for Reclaim Our Vote/Center for Common Ground--to voters of color in Mecklenberg county. And Jessica's post is correct; if folks in NC don't register by Oct. 11, they can still register AND vote during One Stop Early Voting from October 17-Nov. 2.
Me and my friends from Indivisible Twin Cities will be dropping door hangers on about 500 houses of infrequent voters in St. Paul tomorrow. They compare a Harris/Walz administration to Trump/Vance/MAGA/Project 2025 agenda. It also includes info on the down ballot races. We have a large Hmong population in this part of St. Paul so it also has a QR code that takes them to a Hmong translation of the information.
Me, a few kids and grandkids are writing 1000 postcards to black women voters in Dade County FL who are identified as infrequent voters. I'd be floored if we can win the POTUS vote in FL, but we'd love to unseat Rick Scott in the Senate Race. It's youth and women against conservatives who've moved to FL in the past 8 years 🤞
Mailed 90 postcards for Hopium yesterday. Writing more today for Adam Gray in California. Texting for Field Team 6 this afternoon. Tomorrow I will be writing postcards for Mom's Rising to North Carolina and texting again with Field Team 6. Sunday I will be doing social engagement for the Harris/Walz group via Reach, and for NextGen using their toolkit. Sunday I will be texting with Voters of Tomorrow. Sunday night I will get taken out for our 45th wedding anniversary. Still madly in love with my guy. Expect to get our ballots shortly and we will vote right away!
Thirty-six new voters were registered in Florida this week. The Young Democrats Club at St Augustine High School partnered with the St Augustine Beach Democrats, a sub-club of the St Johns County Democratic Party, to set up a multi-day Voter Registration Event. Florida’s voter registration deadline is Monday, October 7. Many of the newly registered students are 16 & 17 year olds. They pre-registered to vote. The Supervisor of Elections office will put them on the rolls when they turn 18.
I'm scheduling poll observers for Georgia early voting. Software I wrote assigns volunteers to priority polls and minimizes travel, saving until hours of manual scheduling. All of this through VoPro Pros, including scheduling VA, NC and possibly others.
I'll be finishing up my last batch of postcards for Mo Green who is running for for NC Supt. of Public education which get mailed on Tuesday and then I need to circle back to finish up some Vote Forward letters that I signed up for months ago. I want to finish up writing all of these because once early voting gets underway in NC, I will be really busy!!
I have completed training for the NC Voter hotline but I want to review the online materials this weekend in case I have an opportunity to take a shift. Currently the hotline has light staffing, but that will change shortly.
I've also signed up for serving as a Poll Observer but that won't start for about 2 weeks. I'm waiting on my assignments - apparently from Dave F who posted here already!
I phonebanked for Sherrod Brown this afternoon and will canvas for him and other D's here in Cincinnati tomorrow. I have written 200 postcards to Ohio voters but see there are more to do! Plus I have about 50 Vote Forward Letters, I need to finish.
I’m finishing 25 Vote Forward letters to AZ. Making calls for the DNC to purged voters to alert them that they’ve been purged so they can register. Taking a training on Monday with Wisconsin Democrats to help them build a database so people can find the location of ballot boxes. If you were interested, here’s the link to join.
[Help build] Wisconsin's only statewide and easy-to-use tool for early vote and dropbox information! We are so excited to work with this team! Our work will empower hundreds of thousands of voters.

Hi Jess

Yesssss! Thanks, Meryl. I’m so glad you’re doing that and it will help with amendment 4 too.
