If there was any doubt, any doubt at all that it is the oligarchs who pull the strings on their MAGA Republican puppets, Johnson's move to defund the IRS is proof positive. The reason that the U.S. is $33 trillion in debt is that the ultra wealthy, i.e., the oligarchs, have been under-paying taxes for decades while gaming the system. We really do need a revolution in this country and 2024 must be the year.

Jessica, we loved having you on our Markers For Democracy Zoom today! Thank you for giving us the pep talk to get more of us phone banking. The Zoom was co-hosted as always with our sister groups the Downtown Nasty Women Social Group and Team Min. We meet multiple times a week to hear candidates and other speakers and to chat before and after while writing postcards or doing other things. If people would like to join our Zooms, here's the link to sign up to get our newsletter.

Try it! We meet throughout the year and will be meeting after the November 7 election as we have been for the 5 years. There’s always work to do! And we have fun together while doing it!

I am a member of the Democrats Abroad Queensland state chapter here in Australia (originally from Oregon). Thank you for the mention in today's newsletter. We work hard to get out the vote among US citizens living/working here.

Personally I like Guides.vote better than vote411.org. It's just easier to use imo. But to each his own.

Wonderful costume. Hats off to your son. That's some upcycle magic indeed.

Just sent off 20 letters of protest to the 20 congresspeople I telephoned last week. I had phoned to thank them for not voting for Jordan and now I expressed my dismay and basic outrage at their having voted for Johnson. MAGA extremists do not speak for most Americans and they need to know it. Good luck to all of us and let's just keep speaking up.

Jess, could you post about this in your next newsletter? The Ohio senate GOP created a website that is peddling false info about Issue 1 (reproductive rights) and Red, Wind & Blue is asking people to tell Google it's false and misleading:

You may have seen the trick that is being pulled on a taxpayer funded state senate website, sharing misinformation about Issue 1. AP ran a story about this and quotes RWB's growth strategist, Britt Bischoff, about the dangers of presenting this misinformation as factual on a government website.

Since it’s on a government website, the Google search algorithm will prioritize the result. This means that the misinformation continues to spread.

As we all know, misinformation is rampant in this effort to defeat Issue 1 and it can feel like there’s nothing you can do. But in this case, there is something you can do. You can send feedback to Google letting them know this article is not medically accurate and contains biased opinions. We created a how-to guide for you to follow. It provides step by step details of how to provide the feedback.

I strongly oppose cutting funding for the IRS in exchange for passing emergency funding for Israel,

I really strongly oppose giving one red cent to apartheid Israel so they don't have to dip into their own pockets to destroy more Palestinian infrastructure and Palestinians. They're doing to pretty good job of it starting Oct. 8. Do they care if the captives get killed in the process? Obviously, not. They are expendable to the greater cause.

As I said, I recognize there are a wide array of opinions on that. Which is why I focussed on the cutting of the IRS funding, which is counter-productive regardless of the reason.

You betcha. I'm disgusted by the GOP. I wish I never had to know another thing about those crazy traitors.

Right now I'm REALLY focused on Gaza, and learning through 100's of hours of youtube and books. Jimmy Carter, "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid" 2006.

"Gaza" by the wonderful Norman Finkelstein. a book I just bought for kindle is being read aloud on youtube...all 755 pages of it! Israel is a criminal country. Imagine, 75 years ago, after centuries of living here and there,, they got their own country. And, already, look how they are behaving. Goes to show what one can get away with if your best friend is the USA. How long will it take for the USA to figure out they are supporting the bad guy? Of course, it won't be the 1st time we support the dictators.

You know Netanyahu is extremely unpopular among Israelis, right? So maybe reconsider your use of "They," which sounds an awful lot like coded bigotry.
