Just wanted to share my experience thus far - I've called and left messages for most of the list of the Congresspersons who opposed Jim Jordan, but I have also reached some who have answered the phone. My message has been to thank them and to also note that I have heard about the threats that they have received and to say that it is a good thing that this is being brought to light, as it may stop this from being used as a political weapon. I have also said that I hope that they and their families will be safe. Those I spoke with said that the message was really appreciated because they are dealing with calls with a different message. So even if we aren't in their districts or aren't Republicans, this means something.
Dear Jessica, I'm grateful that you brought Working America to the attention of your readers. I was thinking about this group lately (having been introduced to them in 2022), and it will be a pleasure to send letters on their behalf to the residents of Virginia. xDeborah AND thank you for all you are doing to keep our spirits up in these troubled times.
Just saw the news that Jim Jordan in BACK in the running. When will this ever end.
So, I called the DC office of my Arkansas congressmen to voice my opinion as to NO to Jim Jordan. The young man asked me who I had in mind! I suggested that they find a workable solution to get back to work and that since no one from the Jim Jordan group wanted to actually work toward solutions those folks do not qualify for Leadership.
Just a heads up, our work is not done, as late today, Jim Jordan decided to go another round. I have called several offices of reps who voted no, urging them to hold the line. Those staffers who answered have responded gratefully to my words of support for their courage in the face of the pressure and abuse. Sounds like these staffers did not have a very good day! So, keep calling! In particular, I read that Reps. Womack, Miller-Meeks, Womack, Granger, Kiggans, Gimenez, and Rutherford have called out Jordan’s tactics.
Amen to the end of the Jordan Ruse. It will be interesting to see who surfaces next. I see McHenry or Bacon in the running, but the smart move would be a coalition, backing Hakeem Jeffries, who was trained by the best-Nancy Pelosi.
Did the things, wanted to applaud you for YOUR hard work in regularly presenting all these opportunities in front of us to make it simpler to make a difference! THANK YOU so so much. If there's anything you need personally, please let us know.

Yes the Palestine-Israeli war is tragic but it may finally end the abuse of Palestines & lead to the 2 state solution. Re Jim Jordon: his speaker election efforts are accomplishing his goal of stopping government.
The effort to appoint an interim Speaker has failed, the sane Republicans don't want the job, and none of the Republicans are interested in a coalition with the Democratic caucus.
Clearly, there needs to be a solution, but we're on week 3, with 2 hot wars and a pending government shutdown...
There's lots of talk, Jess, but as yet no specific proposal.
As always, the devil is in the details. Just temporarily handing the powers of Speaker to a McCarthy ally is not really a solution. At best, it's a mere administrative fix that allows some business to be conducted. But it leaves the office of Speaker still vacant.
Leader Jeffries has been very clear that the issue is not about any particular individual. It's about the need to have a rules change so that legislation with majority bipartisan support can come to the floor for a vote: "Our preference is to re-open the House in a bipartisan way, so we can govern in an enlightened way.”
This is not at all over. Reaching a bipartisan consensus on a replacement Speaker is obviously the only feasible solution. But there's fierce opposition on the Republican right to ANY cooperation with Democrats, even if D's would agree to the new Speaker being R. The Freedom Caucus people see the McHenry option as caving to Dems, even though Jordan now favors it.
Getting there will require a lot more hard work on everyone's part. While I applaud making calls to thank the 22 who voted against Jordan, we shouldn't be under any illusion about their motives. Many just don't like him, and would gladly support another extremist.
At www.FeathersOfHope.net we are continuing to make calls to potential Republican allies who may yet support a bipartisan governing coalition. See our latest post here:
There was a 2 hour closed-door meeting...the GOP caucus can't reach agreement. Thus far, they're unwilling to include Democrats. Don Bacon says the internal count against Jordan is now 30.

Amazing. It really does.

Oh I'm so glad! Yes, I love them but hadn't seen any VA stuff from them until now. So happy you can take a packet!

That's really kind of you thank you.
You can't trust Jim Jordan to keep his word. He got us to relax for a minute and then reverses himself. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/19/us/politics/house-speaker-jim-jordan.html?unlocked_article_code=1.30w.EYHT.aNlW1aJFLGXp&smid=url-share
I just can't. Back to the drawing board. If this keeps up I'm going to have to start publishing twice a day.
It's like going back to the tRump WH days.

What about McHenry did that already go down? I thought that had wide support?
