I just called all 20 Congress People to thank them for the No vote against JJ and to keep it up. Where I got a live person, they were thrilled and relieved to hear something positive.

Oh I'm so glad! I just made a TikTok asking folks to call, too, so hopefully between all of us they'll get some positive feedback. Thank you SO MUCH for doing that. Please share the list with friends and family!

That's really inspiring. I'm going to get on the phone right now. Thank you! It was just the nudge I needed.

I just called them all today too. I got a few real people as well. 🙂

Thanks again, Beth. I just phoned all twenty Congress People and it felt really good. Left messages for all by Mike Simpson of Idaho who didn't have an answering machine.

Thank you for the voting list of those who did NOT vote for Jim Jordan.

I called all of them, got 3 live humans and left messages where that system wasn’t full.

I was especially pleased to find my Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer on the list. She often votes with the GOP herd, but as I keep a closer track on her voting, she diverges sometimes to a more moderate vote!!

It’s a goo day. So far.

Thank you for compiling this list! Called all 20. Only one full mail box (Mike Simpson of Idaho). A staffer for Rutherford-FL said I 'could count on that." The only live person I spoke with that didn't seem to appreciate the call was a staffer for Steve Womack, AR.

Thank you so much for calling! Amazing! And ironically the list was compiled by a twitter troll who wanted folks to call and yell at them. LOL.

LOL - THAT makes the effort all the sweeter.

I would rather write than call. Is an email as effective as a phone call?

If you can get through, yes. Some of them have "contact me" forms where you need a district address to get through.

Thanks for the news on Jordan, Jessica. I can't wait to see how his lawsuit comes out regarding sexual assaults on his wrestlers when he was an assistant coach. I disagree about McHenry as a choice, he is a vindictive SOB. (re: Rep Pelosi's office). Have a great day.

I don't like him at all but that's who they're talking about. Not my choice--I should have made that clear.

I plan to tomorrow because the line was too busy I also tried to call some of the others but the numbers were wrong or something because only ken buck answered as him and even then his line was too busy.

Hi Jess,

You inspired me to send an email to the Hall of Fame:

It's been brought to my attention that Tommy Tuberville is on the ballot for the 2024 Hall of Fame. Any fame he may have earned as a coach has been tarnished by his shameful hold on critical military promotions that he's using as a U.S. Senator because he can't achieve his unpopular goals through legislation. He should be given an indefinite HOLDING PENALTY!

Mine was very similar, Bob. That as an embarrassment to the US, he is also an embarrassment to College Football. Love the holding analogy!!

I live in the 1st district in PA and my representative is Brian Fitzpatrick, a moderate Republican and leader of the Problem Solver Caucus. I’m a staunch Democrat, but if we must have a Republican Speaker, why not Fitzpatrick? From his bio: “ Congressman Fitzpatrick sits on the Ways and Means Committee and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. In addition, he co-chairs the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus and Congressional Ukraine Caucus, while also serving on the Bipartisan Addiction and Mental Health Task Force and NATO Parliamentary Assembly.” Seems to me he’d be a moderate candidate to consider.

Just asked my inside source. I'll let you know what she says.

The Problem Solvers are funded by the same dark money behind No Labels. Tread very cautiously with these people; they seem to be hiding something.

Yeah I should have been clear that's who they are talking about, not who I support. I deeply dislike and distrust the PSC for the same reasons you just mentioned. They are awful.

Expand full comment

Yeah, thanks Jess. It's getting so we don't know who we can or can't trust anymore. I think we need to come up with a document that candidates MUST sign - publicly - stating their intentions. If they stray from the document, they must resign, and a special election would then be held for a replacement to complete that term

Thank you for the list of Rep’s to call, Jessica! I called them all and left messages. The only one I didn’t reach was Rep Sparks (ID) whose voicemail was full. As I predicted, the entire group of calls only took about 25 min’s.

I also posted a link to your newsletter on Mastodon so folks reading over there can help out as well.

Now for a piece of chocolate as a reward!

Thank you Jessica for making it easy to write in opposition to Tommy Tuberville. Took all of one minute. Tomorrow I'll call some of the anti-Jordan Republicans.

Here's an alternative way to access the 20...I'm hoping there might be a few folks who find this format easy...I think you can click on the phone number directly. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1j72YFTLHuen77-5W3ICea7xkLztpLkDatJG68qpRpRQ/edit?usp=sharing
