Might be Fibro-Fog or might be Covid-Fog, but it's still clear as mud to me. That said, knowing that I will likely not find this my best way to be active, I just signed up for Election Clerk training, and for several shifts at my local polling place to serve in that capacity. Weird to feel both old and empowered, but I'm running with it. There is something for everyone out there--find your best way to be an activist during the next eight weeks.
Just signed up. Thanks so much for all you do for democracy and helping the rest of us know how to help and where to go. I’m 63, and other than voting, have never been or active in government before. Since the horrors of the last presidency, I can’t just sit by.
Thank you! Very helpful, and this stuff is really confusing for my old brain. One last confirmation. In your Step 2, you list 3 apps for sending a Resistbot. I just use my SMS text on my Android Messages app. Same thing, right?
I want to use this but can’t figure out how to get started. Do I go to resistbot and register first so they have my information? I could use messenger or sms, but somewhere it says to download an iOS ap? Which is better. I am usually tech savvy but am a little confused about the first step to get on board. And I’m .81, but I can do online banking and pay my real estate taxes online so I am not a total dunce. I text friends regularly and get text messages I can STOP, etc, so this seems similar. I just want to get started. I am new to this concept because I finally started following you after hearing about you from Robert Hubble and Jess Piper and Small deeds done.
I'm not sure about this, but as someone who has had to deal professionally with a lot of content flowing at one time, I suspect that congressional assistants are not reading letters in full, but reading to define a position and then adding that sender's contact info to an excel file or list connected to that position. Then, when the official approves a reply to that position, it goes to all of them, albeit customized to appear to be personal response. Emails allow them so much more freedom to massage the content they receive into an actionable form (assuming they are not still in the dark ages). I see Angus King's office following that model, and he has said his office prefers emails. Granted, there may be differences across officials/offices, but I am being optimistic and sending multiple resistbot emails daily.
Love the info. I just got a text from resist.bot. In the Apple Store it only has a 4.5 rating so I was hesitant but after reading this and clicking on the link of more features I’m on board. Thanks for all you do to help the people in the American experiment. #MoreOfUS
I still have questions. I don’t have any of the platforms you mentioned (but why not just use an email) to send to resistbot, nor did you mention how to contact resistbot, like an address.

Well THAT is amazing! Thank you!
Agreed. Resistbot is not user-friendly in the least.
Just signed up thanks to you. In addition to helping get the word out, Resistbot has a quirky and "fun" visual grab with lots of options. Nicely done.
Yeah there's a lot there that even I forget it can do. A wonderful tool.

I'm so glad you signed up! Welcome! And let us know if you need any help figuring the actions out.
Thank you, this is enormously helpful! I thought Resistbot was only for sending text messages. Little did I know it could do so much more!
I know, amazing, right?
Thank you! I generally use the codes to send a text, and wasn't aware that I could edit or send them any other way.
Sure thing! The explanation was long overdue. (:

Yes you can also text them the old fashioned way by just texting your messages to 50409. Which it sounds like you are doing.

Thanks for this. It helps.
Thank you for this!!
Would sending an edited email be equally as impactful as making a phone call?
An edited email that goes through their web portal is equally effective, yes!
The bill is void.
Jess you are just the absolute best. Thank you!!

Jess! You're such a good girl! Love your effervescent approach to everything.
Very glad you are on my side! Lol
