Might be Fibro-Fog or might be Covid-Fog, but it's still clear as mud to me. That said, knowing that I will likely not find this my best way to be active, I just signed up for Election Clerk training, and for several shifts at my local polling place to serve in that capacity. Weird to feel both old and empowered, but I'm running with it. There is something for everyone out there--find your best way to be an activist during the next eight weeks.
Just signed up. Thanks so much for all you do for democracy and helping the rest of us know how to help and where to go. I’m 63, and other than voting, have never been or active in government before. Since the horrors of the last presidency, I can’t just sit by.
Thank you! Very helpful, and this stuff is really confusing for my old brain. One last confirmation. In your Step 2, you list 3 apps for sending a Resistbot. I just use my SMS text on my Android Messages app. Same thing, right?
I can't do Resist Bot because I don't text, and don't do any social media stuff at all. I'll call my two senators and one congressman, but e-mail letters are almost surely not read due to the heavy volume those folks get every single day. I call, and the staff doesn't have any answers at all...they are merely taking notes ("for or against") and that's it. Very frustrating, but there are too many people in the world and it's only going to get much worse! I'm so glad I'm on my way outta here--life is getting 'way too complicated for this old lady! P.S. Loved the Prez speech and was so glad he "aced" it. And the Repub rep?...loved the criticism she's getting!
H/T means hat tip. It just tells you where I got the text. I could say "source" instead.
As for the rest of it, the snippet you pasted above is incomplete--I usually say "to:" and then either "your two Senators," "your House rep," "all three reps," "Biden," or whoever the letter is going to. Occasionally I accidentally omit that info and it looks like I did on the one you copied here.
And the "Text Sign PAAOAW" part is how you send the exact letter you see to those people. It's essentially a shortcut. Once you're set up on Resistbot you can just send them a text with the words Sign PAAOAW (for example) and it'll show you the letter and then send it for you as is. You can't, however, edit it. If you wish to do that you'd need to copy the body of the letter from my newsletter, paste it into another doc to edit, then copy and paste that and send it to your reps via Resisbot using their manual prompts. (More about those on their webiste.) Hope this helps!
That's a Resisbot thing you can use to amplify your letters or use other special perks. I think only applies to people who donate monthly. Or you can buy a bunch of coins for a few bucks.

Well THAT is amazing! Thank you!
Just signed up thanks to you. In addition to helping get the word out, Resistbot has a quirky and "fun" visual grab with lots of options. Nicely done.
Yeah there's a lot there that even I forget it can do. A wonderful tool.
Thank you, this is enormously helpful! I thought Resistbot was only for sending text messages. Little did I know it could do so much more!
I know, amazing, right?

I'm so glad you signed up! Welcome! And let us know if you need any help figuring the actions out.
Thank you! I generally use the codes to send a text, and wasn't aware that I could edit or send them any other way.
Sure thing! The explanation was long overdue. (:

Yes you can also text them the old fashioned way by just texting your messages to 50409. Which it sounds like you are doing.
Thanks for this. It helps.
Thank you for this!!
Would sending an edited email be equally as impactful as making a phone call?
An edited email that goes through their web portal is equally effective, yes!
I just now found Resistbot and sent my first message. It seemed complicated at first, but it was quite easy!

Jessica instructs to "Copy ResistBot text" in CWCW email - what about this heading? What does it mean?:
[To: ] [H/T] [Text SIGN PAAOAW to Resistbot at 50409 or via Apple Messages / WHATSAPP / MESSENGER]
> what is [H/T] ?

What are COINS?
