Hi, all, and happy Sunday.
I’m still working on getting “Extra! Extra!” out for you, but I didn’t want to wait to send out the one link I’ve already been asked for dozens of times. It’s this one. The one to donate to Kamala Harris’s Presidential campaign.
I got the link directly from her twitter post—the one where she says:
I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party—and unite our nation—to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.
She then says “If you’re with me, donate now.”
I know I did. If you’re with her, too, please give if you can. And either way, please share the link widely.
I’ll have lots to say about Biden’s dropping out— I know many of you are shocked and dismayed by it. I was, at first—and I’ll probably always be a little mad about the way this happened—but I must confess to a building sense of excitement. While I am sad at the way this has played out, and deeply grateful for what President Biden has done for our country, there is the potential for a truly thrilling ticket, here, with all of the benefits of the Biden track record and none of the baggage.
I don’t want to change anyone’s feelings. If you’re mad, I get it. My own feelings are complicated. But Harris is almost definitely the candidate—anything else would be not only wrong but political malpractice after Biden’s endorsement. And she’s great.
Nothing will show our support, unity, and determination to win BIG better than a gobsmacking wave of donations today.
So if you can give, please do. It’s not even about the amount as much as the number of small-dollar gives. It says a lot. So let’s show what we can do.
More later today. Thanks, all.
Jess
Just donated to Kamala Harris's campaign.
I also wrote a note to our president via the White House form: https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/share/
Dear President Biden. Thank you for your extraordinary service and the true leadership you've shown this country. I'm so angry at the mainstream media and the elite megadonors; I'm one of the everyday people who was fighting for your continued candidacy. But I remain grateful for all you've done and how you continue to lead by example, for all that is good and right. I'm grieving right now, but will quickly turn my energies to supporting Kamala Harris and all the other democratic candidates. Thank you.
FWIW, my 20-year-old daughter immediately texted me after the announcement to ask if she could write postcards for Harris!
