This was a MOST excellent chat. So grateful for Skye & the entire democracy forward team & the tireless work they’re doing. This chat left me more hopeful than I’ve felt in a long time.

She is so informative and makes us realize how important their lawsuits are. Wonderful to know resistance is working in the courts and in many corners of the USA

I have been financially supporting Democracy Forward for the last two years. I am not even aware how I heard of the organization, but once I did the research, I knew I had to be onboard. Thank you Jess for amplifying what the organization is doing.

Yes, it is up to the American people. The American people are responsible for what is happening today. Trump spent the nine years after his 2015 announcement that he would run for president demonstrating day after day that he was unfit to be president, incompetent, stupid, ignorant, depraved, and a violent criminal.* He did everything he could to overturn the results of a legitimate election and what did the 77 million people who voted for him and the millions of people who didn't bother to vote do in response? They re-elected him.

Why did they do that? Why did they cast the most dangerous and irresponsible votes in an American election? They did it for cheaper eggs and gasoline. Some, especially his base and other bigots, did it to have a whiter America. But, what was behind those reckless votes? Tragically it was stupidity, ignorance, and bigotry, both racism and misogyny. After the election, the New York Times and others did exhaustive post-mortems to find out why people voted for Trump. They all came up with reasons that avoided the simple truth even though at times what they wrote or said led an observant, thoughtful purpose past those superficial explanations -- the Democrats did this or didn't do that. Kamala Harris failed here or there. Everything but the actual fact that American voters are routinely very badly informed and lack the kind of historical, political, and economic knowledge that is essential for a voter to have.

No one forced voters to re-elect Trump. Seventy-seven million Americans did so voluntarily. They ignored the overwhelming reality that Trump had been openly showing the public for nine years. They voted for the man who constantly claims to be the leading expert in one field after another, but who is easily the dumbest and most ignorant president this country, and certainly most countries, have ever had and who knows almost nothing factual about anything, apart from how to run a scam, avoid paying people he owes money to, and manipulate the justice system. Oh, and LIE.

Demonstrations, such as the "No Kings" protests are important. Contacting, hounding ones elected officials is vital. Volunteering and donating are critical. Doing research and talking with others about those issues in order to be well-informed and more knowledgeable tops the list along with voting in November, every November and in every election. However, in the end, unless Americans do all that and show up on election day to defeat every Republican running for office, the blunder of '24 will stand and democracy will fall.

We did this to ourselves (and the rest of the world). Now and for as long as any of us live we must undo what we've done. Very few if any of those who watched this video voted for Trump or any Republican, but now we must all show up in record numbers to throw the crooks out!

*Trump is too much of a coward to be violent himself. He orders and incites others to be violence for him and praises those, like current Republican governor of Montana, Greg Gianforte, for being violent.

PS Take a tiny bit of the energy Jess throws into this work and use it to push forward.

And a huge thank you to Skye and her associates for all they are doing. November might not matter if it weren't for them.

What about the Epstein files?? Has the yet- another- illegal war managed to distract Americans from the files, and holding the pedophiles accountable?

I heard that USPS retirees are going to lose their pensions. Is that true?

I have been contributing to Democracy Forward since you recommended it Jess, years ago. I love what they do, and I love hearing Skye talk about it! Thanks to both of you for what you do!

My "receipt" says Democracy Forward Foundation. Is that the right division? Should it be something else?

Jessica and Skye, you both are my heroes. Thank you for showing up for the American people!! I am so grateful for you both. The work you are doing makes my run for Congress so possible. The OMB list of programs cuts convinced me to fight this administration’s corruption and disregard for the American people. Thank goodness for your commitment to the law and our country.

I couldn't watch live, but I'm so grateful to have seen it. What an amazing woman and organization - it was just great to hear this conversation. Thank you!

This was really insightful. Thank you Jess for highlighting Democracy Forward. People need to know what's going on. Even though the legal system may be slow they are the guardrails holding us from the cliff, and all of us can make a difference.

The story about the fact that people are making connections at No Kings days and then realizing they’re credible sources of information is EVERYTHING. We really are not alone in this fight.

Fabulous! I hope that anyone who could followed up with a donation.

Thank you for this conversation between two of the women who will help lead us out of this morass. Dahlia Lithwick's book Lady Justice: Women, The Law and The Battle to Save America revealed the incredible work done by women lawyers in the first Trump administration to stop his efforts to undermine our country. Women are doing it again -- not just in the legal profession, but as independent news reporters, as well. Thanks for all you do.

Watching the IMPLOSION of the GOP...day by day... isn't nearly as fun as I thought it would be.
