I’m so furious. This won’t stand. Post-fascist regime, all detainees must be freed, offered medical care, housing, family reunification and a fast track to full citizenship. We, the people must hold the felons who’ve done this accountable, strip them of all titles, expropriate their ill-gotten wealth, and fund a restoration for those they’ve harmed from the seized wealth.

This may be a dumb question, but it's illegal to imprison someone and make them pay for their own food, is it not? That seems like indentured servitude. I mean I'm pretty sure that's not how it works in prisons with people who have been convicted of actual crimes... I realize illegal stuff is happening all the time (including denying people being detained access to the legal system), because the people in the regime and their acolytes don't care, but I just want to clarify. Seems like they should go to court over this. Also price gouging. Al Capone went down for tax evasion. Seems like we should all start being creative.
I know there are several court cases pending about the forced labor, but less sure about the commissary. It obviously seems deeply wrong, but since they are "technically" providing them with food (which is, of course, inedible) perhaps they can skirt the law.
probably because the people that get their meals paid for in prison are actual US citizens that have had to pay uncle sam since the day they were born.. rather than people that just got here illegally and haven't contributed anything.. therefore they aren't going to get anything else funded by the tax payers.

I've been protesting at DH. It was great to hear the truth from Gabriela on what's been happening. The videos can be misleading - what I know is that ICE and police always start the violence not the protesters. But it's so easy for them to twist the truth. Gabriela is a force!
