Well, I can already tell you that I’ve gotten some lovely offers of help for her so hopefully she will get the legal protection she needs. Right now she is still safe and sound at home so we’re gonna try everything we can to keep it that way.
Wow! So much good news!!! Hard to pick the best ones!!! If the All Roads Lead to the South protests really did get mainstream news coverage that is huge. Mamdani and the budget is huge. If NYC could just secede from the union thousands of competent people from all walks of life would move there in a heartbeat and would make it be the most influential place in the world with an amazing concentration of smart folks who will be figuring out stuff to help all mankind. Instead of course Trump and the GOP are giving 500,000 student visas to students from China to help China increase it's lead as number one in the world in scientific research and development. As per a report from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, " The U.S. leads the world in Nobel Prizes, but, notably, 40% of the Nobel Prizes in chemistry, medicine and physics that were awarded to Americans since 2000 were won by immigrants. The flow of foreign talent is not guaranteed. It follows opportunity, funding and openness. Researchers who might once have come to American universities are finding welcoming alternatives in Europe, China and elsewhere.
And so many items about folks doing good things for the environment. Did the GOP NOT see that trump's war would turn people to renewables quicker than anything else would have, despite all their attempts to hinder that? One "that's great but"....it's great that Oakland (or at least a nonprofit) is doing something to help teachers, but tragic that in the US there are indeed low income teachers.
