Hi, all, and happy Tuesday.
THE Tuesday. Wow!
I’ll be hopping onto another 7 to 8 hour phonebanking jag soon, so again I’ll have to keep this brief. Below I’ll list a few ways you can help today, and an Election Night event you can attend if you like things like that (I don’t.)
But first, a couple of friendly reminders:
First, we won’t know the results of most races tonight, so please set your expectations—and those of your friends and family—accordingly. It’ll likely be a week or even more before we know the entire outcome of these midterms, and things could get very bumpy in the process. Let’s all commit to staying calm and alert, and being ready to help where needed. There will be loads of ballot curing opportunities in the next few days and we’ll need people badly for them, so please consider taking a shift when you can.
Second, I want to say something before any outcome has been determined: whatever happens today, I will be here tomorrow, and next week, and next month, and next year, to help with whatever is next. Regardless of today’s results, our fight for democracy will be ongoing, and I, for one, will never walk away from it.
So remember to breathe today. Remember to eat. Remember to hug your family members.
And remember Marcus Aurelius’s wise words:
Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present.
Regardless of what happens today, we will meet the future together, and as powerfully as we have met this moment.
Knowing this gives me, for one, great hope and joy.
Sending so much love and strength, y’all. I am indescribably proud of and grateful for your hard work thus far. It’s because of people like you that we will win.
Now, a few things you can do today:
Post this on your social media, please:
If you know someone in a battleground state who's not going to vote because they're overwhelmed by the ballot, the @BlueVoterGuide can help! Text it to them, please. (While you're at it look up their polling place for them at iwillvote.com.) 🗳

I’ll be making calls with the DNC most of today. They have phonebanks with trainings every two hours, but once you’re trained you can hop on and off the dialer at will. I did this for much of yesterday and talked to many, many people in a few different states. It’s fantastic. The platform enables you to easily text voters a link to look up their polling place and a number to call in case of difficulty, so it feels very productive. Sign up for a shift here.
Today from 4-6 PT / 7-9 ET I’ll be running a last-minute phonebank into AZ for the Grassroots Dems. I did this phonebank yesterday and I was astonished at how many folks I was able to help with polling info. Please join me! Sign up here.
EVP has calling all day again. Seriously the best and most upbeat phonebank—yesterday there were EIGHTY-TWO people at the the shift I attended. Crazy! Also, today all of their shifts will be kicked off with a special Early Vote Data Briefing led by EVP's Executive Director—these are awesome! Shifts are at 12pm EST / 9am PST, 2pm EST / 11am PST, 4pm EST / 1pm PST, and 6pm EST / 3pm PST.
Sister District has E-Day calling all day. Even if you can only go for an hour they need you! Sign up for a shift here.
Starting at 7pm ET TONIGHT, tune in to the States Project’s website to join experts from their team as they follow real-time results of crucial races across the country and help us understand their implications for the future of our democracy.
Watch from your phone, tablet, computer, or smart device of your choice. Tune in where it matters most: the states. WATCH HERE.
OK, all. If there are emergency opportunities that come up today I’ll send them out.
I really do love every last one of you.
Jess
Many thanks for this Election Day message and for all the camaraderie, help and positive energy through this election cycle.
There's so much left to do in so many areas, and knowing that your messages will come into the mail almost every day is heartening. All bests to you and your family.
Thank you for everything that you do. You have brought tears to my eyes, tears of hope. No matter what we won’t let them take away our freedoms. 💙💙💙💙
