Hi, all, and happy Wednesday.
I know it feels like we’re repeating ourselves in our calls. For those of you who’ve been with me for awhile this won’t be surprising, but for those who are new, let me explain:
Our representatives tally calls by the day, not by the constituent. They don’t count my call ONLY the first time I make it. They count it every time. At the end of every day staffers will report to their bosses how many calls they got, and about what. They won’t make a distinction between “new” callers and “old—” they’ll just convey how many calls there were, and on what subjects.
So we call. And call again. And again. What we want are NUMBERS. Big ones. Daily. I want my Senators and House rep literally agape at how many calls they keep getting about climate change, voting rights, women’s health, filibuster reform, and more. That’s the only kind of tide that can push them into more aggressive action.
The tide of millions of drops coming together into a great flood.
So let’s be a drop one more time. 💧
Call Your Senators (find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is ______.
First, I support the Polluters Pay Climate Fund Act, which would assess fees on companies based on their contribution to global emissions and appropriate the funds to ensure a just climate transition.
Second, the Senate needs to pass legislation to protect our right to vote AND a woman’s right to choose. I support the Women’s Health Protection Act as well as the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the For the People Act and I want the Senator to as well. [if Dem add:] the Democrats MUST use their leverage to abolish the filibuster and pass these bills. Otherwise you are squandering the power we worked so hard to give you. Thanks.
Call Your House Rep (find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is _______.
First, I want the Representative to support the Women’s Health Protection Act.
Second, I want the Representative to fight to pass an inclusive recovery through reconciliation, before voting on the bipartisan infrastructure bill.
We urgently need a recovery bill that lowers prescription drug prices for all Americans, expands Medicare, provides a path to citizenship, and includes generational investments in climate, housing, and the care economy - all while making the ultra rich and big corporations pay their fair share. This cannot take a back seat to an inadequate bipartisan bill. Thanks.
Special Call for these 9 Democrats!
Representatives threatening to undermine an inclusive recovery:
Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05)
Rep. Vincente Gonzalez (TX-15)
Rep. Filemon Vela (TX-34)
Rep. Henry Cuellar (TX-28)
Rep. Jared Golden (ME-02)
Rep. Ed Case (HI-01)
Rep. Kurt Schrader (OR-05)
Rep. Jim Costa (CA-16)
Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07)
Rep. Stephanie Murphy (FL-07)
If one of these is yours please call them and say:
I’m a constituent from [part of state] and I’m furious that [Representative] has threatened to undermine the budget reconciliation bill currently being written.
There’s no excuse for risking urgent proposals like lowering drug prices, strengthening Medicare, universal child care, and climate action. Instead of political stunts, I expect them to support the Democratic agenda.
I will be watching to see if they change course. Thanks.

Let’s call AT&T at 800.288.2020 (then press 2. Then say “order new service” because it’ll get you through to someone the fastest) and say:
“Hi I’m a customer/potential customer [if you don’t use their service] and I’m calling to say that I’m horrified that AT&T has given over $300,000 to the politicians that helped pass the Texas abortion ban. Does your company plan on immediately coming out strongly in opposition to it? If not, I will not do business with you again. Thanks.”

Ya’ll, turnout for the CA Recall is at 30% so far. We need twice that. 😬
Can you join one of Activate America’s phonebanks today or tomorrow? These are the EASIEST and best! AA has my favorite dialer, awesome trainers, a really good script, AND you get to leave voicemails, which is a big part of what you’ll do.
Please. We can’t take anything for granted. Remember 2016?

Pennsylvanians are electing hundreds of School Board members this November. Hundreds of thousands of dollars of dark money from GOP extremist PACs is being dumped into local school board races promoting anti-mask and anti-vax rhetoric, undermining the foundations of public education and risking the health and safety of children, teachers and staff.
Help us turn out Democrats to vote like it’s 2020 by writing postcards to register Democratic voters in PA. Everything you need to get started is in the link.

[to your DEMOCRATIC reps] [H/T]
It’s time for Democrats to once again stand for economic justice for all!
I strongly support full implementation of President Biden’s Made in America Tax Plan as codified in the Budget Resolution. I want you to pass a corporate tax code that incentivizes job creation and investment here in the United States, stops unfair and wasteful profit shifting to tax havens, and ensures that the wealthy few and the large corporations pay their fair share.
To that end, I support Speaker Pelosi’s commitment to delay a final House vote on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill until after the Senate passes and sends to the House a Reconciliation Bill that fully implements the Democratic Party’s climate, housing, child and family, education, health care, and tax justice agenda.
And finally, it is imperative that you include in the Reconciliation Bill a provision that authorizes the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to issue and enforce common sense orders and directives, such as eviction moratoriums, in a national public health emergency to slow the spread of infectious disease.
OK, you did it again! You helped save democracy! You’re amazing.
Talk tomorrow.
